The Gothic Inn

If your a mature couple, or a family looking to enjoy the island and all it has to offer look for another Inn. If your in high school or college looking to party and drink out side play loud music from 9am-3am this is truly your spot. As far as accommodations there really is none, you do get towels for the shared shower. You may or may not get hot water. I would highly recommend the Marriott in Newport however. Stay far away from the Gothic Inn unless again you fall under the category of getting wasted and sleeping in the lawn chair and not be bothered, then this would be your dream destination.

I really don’t know why there are so many bad reviews. my wife and I along with another couple late minute notice Stayed for one night. we thought it was very clean, staff was fun to hang out with, and the view was exceptional. I recommend staying here. I would not stay here with the family but if you’re just going for a night or two with friends it works. the house is all Old but it has been updated. It has fresh paint. the bathrooms are clean. breakfast in the morning is plenty full, and the walk to the beach at Ballard’s is only five minutes away. cheers to the staff great job!

We loved the shabby chic decor and rustic charm of this gem by the beach. The linens and shared bathrooms are clean. There was an ample breakfast (bagels, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal, OJ, fruit). If you are expecting a Marriot or a Holiday Inn type room with A/C, a TV, a fridge, a writing desk and an en suite with travel size hair conditioners et al stay elsewhere. None of that is available here. That's part of the charm!- Its nothing like where you might stay in on a business trip. The decor is a warm mix of wicker and antique furniture with overhead fans and plenty of books and beach towels to borrow. We loved this place so much, we stayed an extra night... and we'll be back.

Please read the entire review. This is important, this is a very solid three bubble hotel. I will start with the bad: ||||It was a fiftieth birthday celebration so three of us were sharing a room and the other six were in the other building on the same property. On the third floor attic type area it was our room and three other rooms all sharing one bathroom. It was shocking, to say the least, when I found out we had to share a bathroom with all the other rooms on our floor.This is not and has never been something I would ever do or ever have done. It is an extremely old "historical" hotel. The door knob actually broke apart when we tried to open it. It broke apart, the whole thing.... the door jamb where the lock goes into was so worn down that we were actually concerned that someone cou

My son and I spent a week on Block Island over the Summer and stayed here. It's an older building, well maintained, and close to everything. We had a great time. The continental breakfast had plenty of variety even for my teenage son who eats a lot of everything and still stays skinny. Our room was high enough for a refreshing breeze to come through during the night.
