The Chicago Hotel Collection Magnificent Mile Hotel & Suites

I was super nervous after booking and seeing all the bad reviews. They really do not tell you about the resort fee which ended up being an extra $250 for the weekend for my husband and I. It was something we didn’t budget for sense we’ve never had that in a hotel and nowhere on booking.com said anything about it. But after thinking about it I didn’t mind it. The staff was absolutely amazing and super welcoming. The only issues we had was after a long day of walking the city, we came back and realized our air in our room did not work. So it was super stuffy in there. Than we realized the shower head leaked out of the tub so bad when showering and the wall next to the shower had water damage including black mold. I stayed at this hotel for about a month and I truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. My room was always very clean and comfortable, and from the very first day the hotel felt warm and welcoming. The staff were amazing. I especially want to thank Raymond and Corey, who were always kind, helpful, and friendly. The housekeeping team, both the men and the women, did a wonderful job and always treated me with so much care. The breakfast staff were also great every single day. I would also like to give a special thank you to Michael, the manager. He was incredibly nice to me and helped me whenever I needed anything. His support really made a difference during my stay. Absolutely scam, DO NOT STAY HERE. They will use a very low price to attract you to book their hotel. The price usually lower than $50 per day. Once you check in at the front desk, they will tell you you need to pay around $150 for the stay. The price include drinks, breakfast which you have tons of selection at Chicago downtown which is way better than they provide. Always asking yourself, is it too good to be true?

In over 47 years of business and leisure travel, I have never encountered a lodging entity with as much lack of transparency as what I encountered during my visit. After booking the room through a third-party travel agency, I checked in - to find out that I was subject to an additional 70% in additional charges for amenities that, were I to take advantage of them, would mean that I would never leave the property to check out the City I came to visit. No amount of explanation would suffice. Made reservations in September for a few days in December, flight, this hotel with deposit, ground transportation, everything. Due to local unrest, protesters, ICE, TSA and airline cancelations, and the government shut down, our trip was canceled, with plans to reschedule in the spring. All flight costs, points, deposits, etc were returned... All but this hotel. They took the money, would not communicate or respond in any way. They were notified of the trip cancelation a month before the travel date. And I had to cancel the credit card used so they could not charge hundreds for a no show and other costs, which was strongly advised.
