I have been staying at the Southern Quarters for years after the Christmas holidays and this by far was the windiest holiday I have ever seen. The heat could not keep up with it. ||I somehow every year get room 7 which is on the top floor which probably at one time was the attic or a servants quarters for the house 100 years ago. I like its funky configuration, which makes it look a bit like a Village loft. The only problem was on a days like these when the wind picked up, it went right through the windows and cooled the room down even with the heat on.||The first night I stayed there the wind was not so bad and the room was hot but the second night, the wind was in full force and the windows, even though they had a winterized covering, the cool air went through the window frames that are
Our room had a random door that was shut with a chair and side table in front. Found out pretty quickly that it lead into another bathroom. Not sure if it was employee or another guest. Either way the door was able to be opened if someone wanted to. There were cracks where you could see through. We could very easily hear conversations and people peeing. Gross and worrying. Our room was directly over the bar. Live music was playing all night and people were getting loud. If you’re going to have a bar in your hotel i recommend not putting rooms directly over it. It’s an old building so the walls and floors are thin. A microphone and speakers doesn’t help either. Also the live singers were not good at all. Sounded like drunk karaoke.
I stay at the Chalfonte Hotel every year for the Firemen’s Convention and now it seems more firemen are staying at the hotel I noticed after my stay.||My room was on the top floor of the hotel way in the back where I could not hear the wedding or entertainment below. It was so quiet and relaxing on my original three day stay I decided to extend it another night and my last day slept in and enjoyed breakfast on the porch of the Magnolia Room restaurant.||There is something about the classic charm of this hotel that I enjoy. I attended the Ramble on the Thursday night that I arrived where the crowds have doubled in size over the years.||I also enjoy dining in the Magnolia Room but they need to jazz up the menu a bit since Lucille retired. It might be nice to change some things around.||Still
The food at the Magnolia was excellent. So is the band. They were very good and included all kinds of instruments. Played great songs. And the food was excellent as I mentioned above. Would highly recommend.
We got to stay in the Southern Quarters and it was so cute!! Check in was easy and quick. Room was clean and the bed was huge! It was perfect for a quick stay and would definitely come back and recommend!
