The Capitol Hotel Downtown, an Ascend Collection Hotel

We had such a great stay at The Capital Hotel. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely taken care of. Kane and Quez at valet were awesome. They were quick, helpful, and remembered us every time we came and went, which made things feel really personal. Ms. Gwen at the front desk was just as wonderful, patient, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything we needed. At breakfast each morning we were greeted by the sweetest lady (I wish I had gotten her name). She was bright, sunny, and started our day off in the best mood every single time. You could tell she truly enjoys people. The room was comfortable, everything was clean and well kept, and the location was perfect. We ended up riding scooters most places, but whenever we needed the car, valet made it super easy to request

Upon entering the driveway I was met by someone who was "valet" but not noticeable as valet. To pay $30 a night to park and not have someone that looks like they are "valet" is disturbing. The property is dirty, small, no microwave in room, stained bed sheets, moldly or extremely dirtyair conditioner. The rooms look clean and bright on the website but are in fact dingy and dark and extremely aged, so I am not sure how long ago the pictures were taken, but it wasn't recent. Breakfast was mediocre at best. But at least it was the cleanest part of the building. The bar apparently lost it's liquor license so all they serve is beer, but have Jack Daniel's signs on the outside. Little bit of false advertising. Bj and Kain were great valets. They retrieved our car in a timely manner and offered to get our bags loaded. The room was clean, I was not aware we would have outside walkways up to the room. Breakfast was good and attendants were nice. Good for the price and would stay again if in town.

Jaylen and all other staff were excellent and helped us with whatever we needed. They were upbeat and friendly. Although our room was not luxurious it was clean and updated and very comfortable. It’s definitely a bonus being able to walk downtown to the Broadway area. Great value compared to what else was available.

I'd call this a covered motel not a hotel. It has a very nice lobby with incredibly nice staff. You have to exit the lobby and walk through the parking area to the elevator then exit the elevator and walk on an exterior hallway to your room. The breakfast was bland but did have hot offerings like scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage , biscuits and gravy and a pancake making machine. They also had regular Continental breakfast fare. Perfectly acceptable. The location is great for activities on Broadway. Parking is a "reasonable" $30. The only complaint/ oddity is that they replaced the standard bathroom door with a sliding barn style door that covers the entrance but leaves a rather large gap between the bathroom and sleeping area. So sounds and odors can escape the bathroom.
