The Alonzo Ward Hotel & Plaza

I almost want to give a lousy review to keep this secret from getting out! Fantastic place! Old Dakota charm with perferctly remodeled rooms. Great omlets right around the corner and still a better deal than a new hotel with free breakfast. Fantastic Italian restaurant on the main floor! I'll stay here every time I'm in Aberdeen.

I had an absolutely great night stay at the Alonzo Ward Hotel this past Saturday night. The hotel is a beautiful building decorated from time gone by, from the old telephone booths to the gorgeous wood throughout the main lobby, as well as the beautiful elevator. The room itself was quiet, comfortable and very clean, all the amenities you would need for a weekend getaway. The room also was decorated very modernly with great cushy carpet! It's situated right on main street in downtown Aberdeen, with a variety of restaraunts and the cutest little shops around (especially Novel Ideas, a new little book store that had recently opened). Stayed there two nights in September 2025. Older historic hotel that was tastefully updated while retaining the historic feel. All in all I was very satisfied with the hotel and would recommend it to anyone staying in Aberdeen. Gary

Cute place but nothing much open downtown on Sundays or even in some cases mondays. Not even most of the restaurants. Not really near much of anything. Also...the lobby smells like stale urine. They really need to clean the bathroom in the lobby. And the lobby. And the elevator.
