Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Aberdeen, SD

I’ve now stayed at this location twice, and overall it’s been a solid experience. The property is clean, well-kept, and most of the staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are a great size perfect for extended stays and my team had nothing but good things to say about theirs as well. That said, the late-night front desk service could use some improvement. When I arrived to check in after a long day of travel, the front desk employee answered a call on his personal cell phone and made me wait. Once he finally checked me in, he clearly saw my status, but there was still a noticeable lack of professionalism and basic courtesy. This is a wonderfully clean hotel with a great work out room and centrally located in town. Becca was kind and accommodating when we check in, however the service went downhill from there. Breakfast was excellent but I was "grunted" at when I asked where the saltshakers were located. We were here multiple nights; our room was not cleaned when were out for the day. This is not a huge deal, however when I requested fresh towels, I was told it would be handled. We arrived back at the hotel past 11 pm after working outside all day. No clean towels- too tired to handle in the moment- so did mention on our way out in the morning. Sad service for such a nice property.

I should have read all the one star reviews before booking my stay here. Customer service is horrible. When checking in, no one was at the front desk and needed to find a cleaning lady to go get someone. General manager will not return calls when I'm trying to resolve an issue. Assistant GM hung up on me when I simply asked what the GM's schedule was so I knew the best time to call back. DO NOT STAY AT FAIRFIELD INNS ! As another customer posted, they treat you like garbage!

Arrived at the front desk only to discover our reservation had been cancelled. We were then told we would need to pay 130.00 more than the rate we booked the room for “incidentals”. When asked what this charge was for Kaden didn’t seem to really know although he said it would be returned at the end of the stay. I put my phone up and turned record on and asked him to repeat what he had just said. We then went to our room were upon Rebecca the assistant manager told me that Kaden was a minor and could not be video taped and if I didn’t apologize she would call the police and have us removed. I absolutely cannot believe that an assistant manager would speak to a guest that way ever!!! We will be reporting this incident to Marriot headquarters and ask that Rebecca be reprimanded.
