Do yourself a favor … stop looking for accommodations and book the 1874 Guest House now!! Absolutely one of the best weekend stays we have experienced in our lifetimes of travel around the world. Impecable restoration, spectacular decor, white glove service and exquisite food! Michelle, the innkeeper, is the heart and soul of the experience, passionately ensuring that no detail has been overlooked, without being overbearing. We will return over and over again, but we won’t tell you our favorite suite in fear of it not being available…. :)

An incredible mother-daughter getaway! We had such a lovely time at the 1874 Guest House, and Michelle's hosting skills truly made our trip so special. From the decor, to the amenities, to the service, every aspect of our stay was so thoughtful and immaculate. Not only are the actual house and room stunning, Michelle went out of her way to make sure we had every need met. The room was so clean and beautiful, and we spent so much time discovering all of the tiny details throughout the house, it was picturesque. I cannot recommend this place enough, we are so excited to visit again soon!

We live in Houston, originally from New Orleans, and travel to Galveston on weekends. But we have to say that the 1874 Guesthouse tops anything we’ve ever experienced, including our recent travels to Charleston and Savannah. Cookie, the hostess made our stay flawless and she prepared wonderful, cocktails, and exquisite breakfast meals that were just absolutely wonderful. She also gave us a tour of the home and the many characteristics that we would have not seen without her wonderful personal attention. This is a must for anyone who wants to see the best of Galveston.. The 1874 Guesthouse is absolutely stunning. The Owners created a maginificent setting and one of a kind “suis genesis” experience.

Stayed here for a graduation, and everything was fantastic. Beautiful building, every room was very unique. The backyard space has a nice pool and is a great place for relaxing. Michelle made a tremendous effort to make the whole stay very special, and was always available and kind to us. Would definitely return

My husband and I just spent a wonderful weekend at the 1874 Guest House. We stayed at the Carriage House room that was absolutely wonderful. Everything about the room was excellent, bathroom, bed, pillows, accommodations -- all of it. |The property is a labor of love that is one of a kind. So cozy, elegant and comfortable. The service we received from Cookie was outstanding. She looked after us and cooked us the best breakfast and munchies. We will definitely return in early Spring and perhaps late summer again to take advantage of the pool. |We felt very much at home.
