Tallwood Motel Wells

There was supposed to be a mini fridge in our room (as advertised) but there was not one because apparently it was not working and had been removed, and the hotel manager/owner did not inform us of that until we arrived that night (we were road tripping from Minneapolis, MN to Acadia in Maine and needed a fridge for our stay due to perishables). Not only that, but there was NO hot water the next morning when we all needed to shower and leave early to resume our travels. Icy cold water. The manager said he would fix it but he did not, so we had to forgo showers and still left later than we’d hoped because of waiting in vain for him to fix the water issue (he never did). The room was sparse and the bed hard with scratchy sheets. There was no shower curtain (even if there had been hot water).

If I could give a minus star, I would. I am a positive person, and I love writing positive reviews. Unfortunately, there isn't any positive I could find at The Tallwood Motel in ME. The rooms are rundown, the blinds are falling, the microwave didn't work, AC didn't work at night, and the mattresses are old and lumpy. I was glad I brought my own bedding to sleep in. They charged $ 20 extra for my 8 lb Maltese without forewarning. For almost $ 200 per night, I am used to better accommodations. They call it a "RESORT," which is so misleading. It is overpriced, and the Owner lied in the advertising. He has a reason he is only showing a pool.

Small but clean room and bathroom. There was no mini fridge in our room (he said it broke and he didn’t have time to replace it). Owner was nice and gave us ice for our cooler to keep our food cold. Thankfully the beds were comfortable. Cheap laminate flooring meant every footfall was heard and rattled the beds. The worst part was the shower. A transparent shower liner (not a curtain) meant nobody could use the bathroom during my shower. The liner kept blowing inward and clung to my legs the entire time and there seemed to be an issue with the hot water. The next morning, there was no hot water at all and my sisters were unable to shower. We were on a travel deadline, and at 8:15 we brought the attention to the motel owner, who said he would be by in a few minutes to check it out. At 9:30

I really, really enjoyed staying here! I was looking for a value place to spend the night, and I was really impressed with the cleanliness of the room and the friendliness of the owner, Adeel, when I stayed here last night. The bed was very comfortable, the room was well kept and had no issues. In addition, Adeel accommodated me even though I had accidentally made a reservation for the wrong night, completely understanding and making no fuss. He also did not complain and even walked out with me when I accidentally locked my keys in the room, chatting with me interestedly along the way. Again, this is not a high end hotel, but it has incredible value and is comfortable for a low-budget traveler like me. Definitely would stay here again!

Stayed here with friends for a weekend and had a great time. The room was clean, the environment was relaxing, and the location was close to the beach and restaurants. The staff were super nice and made us feel welcome. Great value for the price and we’d definitely come back.
