Super 8 by Wyndham Kountze Big Thicket Nat'l Pres Area

Nice location right off highway 69 major artery in a very scenic area with a c-store short walk away and Dollar store across the street. There's a small moat around it with frogs and small fish. The front desk clerk was very nice and helpful all we needed was a room for the night with doubles. Stayed here couple of years before and thought it was still nice. Not. The hotel itself is now horrible. Parking lot is pitch black, and you don't feel very safe. Hardly anyone was there. Was told no comp breakfast now only coffee and a muffin. The celling looked like it was falling apart in places. Changed rooms twice and both reeked of mildew, and felt damp. Mattresses were so old and worn out they sagged in the middle. Nasty carpet had stains like vomit or feces. White stuff like powder cocaine

We fled out of this thing as fast as possible, because of bed bugs activities. We're traveling with 4 small children. I thought this place was neat because it had a pool. I also thought that a Super 8, although being a budget hotel, wouldn't be too bad since we've always had good experiences with them and it's a big chain, so quality control should be okay. However, when we arrived, it's not a super 8. It might have been some time ago, but this is now just Motel Kountze. Okay, no biggie. We still went in and checked in. Pool was drained and not open -- big disappointment for the kids, but again, no biggie. We're here just for the night. When we entered the room, my husband said there was a smoke smell that they tried to cover up -- I smelled mildew. Either way, he felt icky about this pl

This hotel had friendly staff, comfortable beds, and hot breakfast items (waffles). It is no frills and does need updating. There were no outlets near the bed or desk for charging phones/devices, no iron/ironing board, and no conditioner in the bathroom. The price was unbeatable and that’s why we chose it. Overall, a pleasant experience.

Customer service at the desk was fine. However, here are the issues with the room (128): 1) Beds are worn out spring-based mattresses 2) Bathtub faucet constant dripping leak 3) Musty smell in room (probably due to bath leak or HVAC is not properly drying air). I normally DO NOT leave feedback unless things are awesome OR if things are bad enough that they should be fixed. I tried laying on the far bed closest to the window first. That bed has springs that one can feel coming through on the left side of the bed. The closest bed to the door was better but not by much. Walking in the room, if one looks at the beds in the room they are visually sunken down in the middle. This is unacceptable. We made do because this was the only room left. The dripping water faucet was annoying so

the property was conveniently looked for the family event we were attending. The registration staff was cordial, friendly and professional. The night clerk staff was able to give us information on how to start are TV. We were experiencing difficulty with finding the correct HMDI setting. The room was clean, and the closet had an de odorize sanitation bag and it provided a pleasant odor. The drain in the bathtub drained slowly and left soap residue film. The mattress was saggy on one side. The pillows were comfortable. The room and floors were clean. The quick breakfast was adequate.
