Relax Inn Motel

The motel is pretty dated and could use a good remodel. The bedspread had cigarette burns. The owner was nice. But they charged and extra 5% to use credit cards and wanted a $20 cash deposit. I had to wait 5-10 minutes the following morning for the office to reopen in order to get my deposit back and he made sure that I hadn't damaged the room by inspecting it before he would refund my deposit. But, for a one night stay while passing through, it was ok.

Room was clean and TV, AC, hot water, microwave and wifi worked well. Check in was confusing, had to pay a $20 cash deposit and I was originally allocated a smoking room, but eventually everything was sorted out. The biggest problem was a really strong musty/mildewy smell and a few fruit flies in the room which maybe makes me think there are some plumbing issues somewhere.

This is a cozy little property with all of the amenities for an amazing price. A refrigerator, microwave and TV bigger than I have seen typical for a property of this size. Also, thanks for the morning coffee! I like the sink being outside of the bathroom. The extra counter space is nice. Lastly, I like the character of the bedding and window curtain. The Christmas decorations were a nice touch for this time of year. Nice attention to detail. The plea to save energy by closing the door and turning off the lights is a good one. The waste typically seen in the hospitality industry is painful to see. My stop was for hiking in Big Thicket. Highway noise was inconvenient but not the fault of the property. Sunrise from the cushioned chairs outside was also a pleasure.

This is a great place to stay for budget traveling. Right off 69, near most restaurants in the area. This is not a high end hotel but is very clean, everything works, safe, and hvac works like a charm. If you keep your expectations realistic is a great place.

This is an older small motel in a small town, but it offered everything I would expect for a much higher price elsewhere. Staff is very friendly. As an older female traveling alone, I very much appreciated that I was given a room very near the office, with a well lighted entrance. That was very thoughtful and reassuring. The room was well laid out and spotless. When traveling through the area, I normally stay in the next larger town. This was an unplanned trip, so I booked here at the last minute. I’ll be staying here from now on when I pass through.
