Super 8 by Wyndham Durham/University Area NC

Checking in was was easy and pleasant very nice woman got someone very quickly to see why our TV remote didn't work. Turned out to be the batteries no big deal quick fix. The room however was not clean. There were tacos left in the microwave, unmopped floors and some kind of patch in the bath tub that was questionable. As we lay down for the night we saw roaches on the wall and all kinds of seedy people outside. Will not be back as we prefer not to have to clean a hotel room before we relax. They did have plenty of toiletries which I particularly didn't need but it was nice to see. Appropriate amount of linens. The sheets were torn and old (i hope they changed them) and the bed wasn't necessarily comfortable but not terrible, maybe clean. Decent size Tv and Room size for comfort.

Positive: "" Negative: Broken locks, moldy shower, insects, floors slippery with unrinsed cleaner, AC puddles in breezeway, broken vending machine, no coffee maker in room, no TV remote, TV screen broken and unusable, didn't get the room I reserved. Long term neglect.

It may not be fancy or modern or luxury accommodations. However it was clean and you can be sure that the cleaners, the owners (who are so friendly and willing to help with any questions), the front desk clerk are all making a concerted effort to ensure that they put all they can into the rooms that I concede are not even close to perfect and shiny. Customer service skills are a real lack in our current society and most hotel staff I come in contact with are rude and condescending towards guests at these types of basic hotels. In my opinion if I pay $68 at the Super 8 or $230 at the Marriot l expect to be treated in the same manor. Being poor doesn't give anyone the right to treat you with disrespect or set different rules or refuse to provide the basic promises in their hotels room desc

Worst stay I've ever had. A roach met me in the bathroom when I went to take a shower. The room smelled stale and musty the whole time. I thought it just needed to air out so I put the AC on, but that didn't helped. It stank the whole time. The bed was like sleeping on cardboard. I was so uncomfortable I couldn't sleep. I honestly don't know why this place is in business. Hospitality does not live here.

When I saw the cigarette burn on the sheets, I knew this was the wrong choice! There were more burns on the bed cover, which I used to cover the gap under the door at night. That helped keep the smoke out of the room from the people smoking in the hallway. We went to dinner, came back, and the key card didn't work. We had to wait until we finally located an employee. We were supposed to stay three nights, checked out after one. The only positive thing I can say is that we didn't see any bugs.
