Sun and Sand Resort

As someone who is in management and customer service and wellness myself, I don’t like to share reviews like this. However, I wouldn’t like another family to have to experience this. I booked this hotel on accident because it was cheap, but I did expect even the lowest of standards. It was a nightmare. I was informed the elevators were broken. Imagine going up five floors with luggage and four kids while pregnant. The alleyway and floors smelled like old pizza and residue was everywhere. This is concerning. This place needs a MAJOR clean out. There is maintenance who is TRYING, but it’s impossible when the hallways at performance of decay. My kids were scared of the place immediately. Do not recommend. While it is on the oceanfront, that's the only benefit. As soon as we checked in, he made us aware the elevator was broke and it seems it's been that way. Then low hot water pressure. We got to the room, tv was on and we found out the remote was missing. Also no shower curtain, took a whole day to get one. The room was old, and needed severe upgrading. The only reason we stayed was because it thankfully was clean. I refused to use the couch as it looked super dirty. Also no ventilation in the bedroom and the vent looked horrible. Last morning we had to skip showers as no hot water. We won't be revisiting.

Not enough Housekeepers to meet the demand. We saw 2 housekeepers who were breaking their backs for a 55ish room building.|Everything is filthy.|No Security or management.|No smoking policy, but the building reeks of marijuana.|Parking is a nightmare.|Not an isolated experience. Every guest I met complained of the same items.|Any review you read that speaks positively about this place, is planted by the resort itself.||Wednesday night: My family checked in with ease and went to our room. The room reeked of marijuana, had paint peeling off the wall, and the bed had dirty stained sheets. I went to management, and they changed my room. This room was not much better. Positive: Nothing Negative: Very dirty, smelly, no house cleaner, don’t think they change any sheets, ants and bugs, no toiletries soap, towels, pool very filthy. Don’t think it’s ever been cleaned in 20 years. No sand wash off coming back from beach, no coffee around.

I absolutely do not recommend this hotel. The service is terrible; you pay to sleep on used and dirty sheets. The room is in very poor condition, and if you cancel at the last minute, they refuse to give you a refund. I waited a long time and never received my money back. I paid over $1000 for two nights in a place that is completely run-down and has terrible service. On top of that, they tell you to call back later when the manager is there, but he's never around. The health department should conduct a thorough inspection because I don't think these are acceptable conditions for families and children to sleep in.
