Staybridge Suites Chesapeake - Virginia Beach, an IHG Hotel

We stayed here prior to leaving for a cruise out of Norfolk. Due to weather we ended up having to book a second night. Couldn’t have asked for a better room setup to accommodate us! Our stay was great from start to finish. All staff was friendly, courteous and eager to help. Breakfast was great especially with Ms. Laura. She made sure you had everything you needed and was so friendly. Will definitely plan to come here again whenever staying in the area.

Overall I enjoyed my stay here with my family. I will say the breakfast made and attended by Ms. Laura was wonderful. She is warm and welcoming and kept the area clean and food station filled during the entire time breakfast is served. There were two issues during my stay. 1) the check in process was terrible the staff member who checked was rude. Typically as a rewards member of IHG my check in process is much smoother. 2) my room didn’t have a shower curtain and the housekeeper didn’t clean the refrigerator. My room issues were quick fixes. I would stay again at this property hopefully next time my check in process is much better.

Positive: We loved the breakfast staff, the breakfast itself, able to bring food back to our room & the dog areas. Once we finally got to the pool, we liked that too, wished it was a heated pool, the hot tub was nice. It was finally working at the end of our stay. Negative: Our room was right across from the staff entrance so our dogs were agitated by the noise. Every time we went out the side doors to let the dogs out, there were staff having smoke breaks. The sofa/hide-a-bed was very uncomfortable even just to sit on.

All staff was wonderful except Cory. I asked Cory even though the hotel is pet friendly is it ok for pets to NOT be on a leash? He said oh that guy’s dog won’t hurt you. Cory, that’s NOT what I asked you. I had to explain to Cory I don’t want anyone’s dog sniffing me or rubbing up against me either. I asked Cory does he have anything he print out about the hotel’s pet policy. Cory said no you have to speak to management tomorrow because management is not here right now. He also advised the hotel hallways don’t have cameras. They only have cameras on the first floor in select spots. Maybe that’s why even though he saw the dog walking through the lobby unleashed he was non chalant about it because if something does happen due to a pet being unleashed he knows there’s no camera footage.

Breakfast waa the best. Food was prepared great. The two ladies that fixed it were very happy acting and friendly and clean and courteous and very efficient. Loved it. Their names were Jo Jo and Ms Laura. The motel personnel were courteous but not as friendly or attentive as the breakfast ladies.
