SpringHill Suites by Marriott San Antonio Northwest at The RIM

This hotel used to be my go-to place. It was always clean and the service was great. Unfortunately, my most recent stay was disappointing. For about $200 a night, I expected much better. There was visible damage to the shower and wall in the restroom room that clearly should have been repaired. The overall atmosphere also felt less professional than it used to. At breakfast, some guests were even walking around wearing blankets, which gave the place a very unpolished feel. It’s unfortunate because this hotel used to be reliable, but it doesn’t seem to be what it once was. Sadly, it may be time for me to start looking for a new hotel.

I booked this hotel for 5 nights but ended up checking out after 3 nights due to a spider issue in my room. When checking in, I noticed the room smelled moldy and was not very clean. I found pennys and plastic caps on the bathroom floor and dirt on the carpet. After the first night staying here I woke up with a bite on my neck. I stayed for 2 more nights and then saw a red spider on the bed. The final day I was here, I noticed a spider near the pillow and decided it was time to ask for a new room. It was around 8:30pm at this time. I had multiple bites on my neck at this point and it all started to make sense! The front desk staff said they were sold out so I would need to check out but they said I wouldn’t be refunded for the night. I spoke with the manager and she offered to change the s

The place was a little bit tired looking, and one of my business colleague needed to change the room due to smell of fecal matter. Maybe most concerning was that my room door was found open (unlocked, obviously open when walking down the hallway) when I came back from work in the evening. I assume that the cleaners did not lock it, errors happen, but obviously a 10/10 error. Otherwise reasonable clean and suites are large. Air conditioner extremely loud, so need ear plugs when staying there.

Positive: Free breakfast and free happy hour, and separate rooms within the suite was a nice change for our family of 6. Negative: The AC was acting up a little, but we called our in and a maintenance person was at our door in less than 10 minutes. After he worked on the AC, the room started cooling down. The bathroom tub needs to be updated.

We stayed here for one night after a long day at Six Flags. The room had two queen beds and a sofa bed, and everything was clean. The room also had a very large closet that worked perfectly as a changing area. The hotel itself was in good condition overall. However, our room faced east, and the morning light was extremely bright, making it difficult to sleep in. Blackout curtains would definitely help. I would definitely stay here again, preferably in a west-facing room.
