SpringHill Suites by Marriott Annapolis

I have stayed at this Springhill a couple times now. It's exactly what I expect from a Marriott property. Clean and comfortable rooms in good condition with a comfortable bed. Friendly check-in staff. Decent coffee and a light breakfast to start the day. Not a huge fan of the app-based paid parking, but every hotel in this area does it so it is what it is. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a typical midrange hotel in a an area that has at least half a dozen equal options within 1/2 mile. It’s nice enough for the one night I stayed while in the area for business. But information on many websites - including this one - about free parking is incorrect. The hotel charges daily for self parking in a large surface lot. It’s $10 bucks, so not going to break the bank, but unwelcoming at best, particularly when it’s not clearly advertised that way on many booking platforms. Look - there are many similar options rights cross the street - I’ll probably choose a different option next time.

This hotel looks new. Rooms are clean and spacious. Good free breakfast with healthy options. Even though there was a sports team staying on our floor we never heard them. Rooms are well insulated. Reasonable pricing, too.

Positive: The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Negative: No door knob on the bathroom door in the room I stayed in. Also there is usually coffee and tea available in the lobby but not this time.

This is an adequate midrange hotel. The room was reasonably comfortable. The breakfast was sparse, not up to Marriott standards. I’m deducting points for the property charging $10 a night for parking. This is not a boutique hotel in a downtown with a parking garage or valet parking. This is a cookie cutter suburban hotel with a surface parking lot. There are no venues nearby or any reason to park in the lot except to stay at the hotel. Here’s a suggestion: Increase the rate on the room by $10 and act like every other suburban hotel and let guests park for no charge. A tip of the hat to the front desk who—after see my shocked reaction—comped the parking fee. C’mon, Marriott. You can do better.
