Sonesta Select Tempe Downtown

Cute little hotel in a great location — you can easily walk to plenty of restaurants, cafés, and shops in a really nice, lively area. Rooms were decently clean, and I was genuinely impressed by how comfortable the beds were. That said, soundproofing could be better. I could hear quite a lot from the room next door, especially since my room had a connecting door. Breakfast is not included and needs to be purchased separately, with fairly limited options. Luckily, there are lots of great local cafés and breakfast spots within walking distance, which makes up for it. There’s also a small but well-equipped gym with all the basic equipment you might need for a quick workout. Same for the pool, and jacuzzi. They're both outdoor and the pool not heated - which in winter makes it quite cold to dip

*My stay was a little over 14 days* The room took some time to grow on me - as it seemed slightly dated - and dark. The AC blew right onto the bed which made it either extremely cold or too hot for me (personal preference there). I’m also never a fan of the light switch for the bathroom being outside the actual bathroom but it is what it is. The staff made the trip and stay worth it. Everybody was super friendly and enjoyable to be around. Any time I needed something - they listened and helped as best they could. Location wise - it is as good as it gets. A small walk to the park and just a block away from the fun moments and eats of the main strip.

This was my second time staying here since my normal Tempe hotels were very expensive this weekend. I felt better about it last time I stayed. As others have said, the room doesn’t have enough lighting, especially by the bathroom sink. I found it very dark, which I’m not comfortable with. It was clean and the bed was comfortable, but I think if they upgraded the lighting and maybe cleaned/fixed the elevator situation, it would make it a better stay for guests.

Positive: The swimming pool and my room. Negative: I wasn?t given the right information about the type of room I initially selected. I was told the room didn?t have a balcony. I couldn?t request an upgrade, and I couldn?t get a refund. Long story short. I ended up keeping the room.

Clean, comfortable rooms and overall friendly staff. Very convenient location. Cozy lobby. Onsite security as well. Why not 5 stars? I walked in and needed to use the public restroom when I arrived. Upon entering I found a small but graphic/unsightly mess. I notified staff when checking in, but the clerk sort of rolled her eyes and didn't seem phased by it. I couldn't resist checking several hours later to see if it had been addressed and it hadn't. I notified the desk clerk who was working later and she was visibly mortified. She responded appropriately, apologized for it lingering, and got the situation taken care of immediately. I wish I had gotten her name for this review, but she was young and very friendly. I stayed again two days later, and if I was back in Tempe, I would not hesit
