Motel 6 Tempe, AZ - Scottsdale South

For what it is, it ain’t bad, just don’t bring your lady here or that might be the end of that phase of your life. It’s the Ford Escort of hotels: you’ll (probably) get where you are going, despite the defroster that doesn’t work, the motor burning as much oil as gas, squeaky breaks, busted cup holder and so on. Friendly lady at the front desk, with a room well past its prime that was never “prime” to begin with. Still, it’s under 100 bucks, quiet at night, no bedbugs at least in my room, and pretty well located or anything you’re doing east of the airport. If you’re on a budget and just need a place to lie down for a few hours, it’s fine. Don’t go there expecting a modern room or any amenities and you won’t be disappointed.

I booked a room here for a friend from out of town as a gift (I'm cheap!) and the place is really clean and well kept – spotless in fact – and the front desk was open and helpful. There's a concerted effort by a few people in the neighborhood behind the place to portray it as "crime ridden" but a Lexis/Nexis search shows no crime at all over the last 12 months, unlike the motels across the street, which show several. Don't believe the lies.

Shot out to Julie/Julia. She is there most of the time when i check in. She helps me get the most comfortable quietest rooms. I love my peace and quiet

Have stayed here at least a half dozen times. It is a good motel but will never stay again because of issue with staff. At check-in on last visit I was charged $16 dollars more than reservation cofirmation. Showed clerk confirmation and she said it would be fixed. I thought she was fixing it on spot but back in car I saw she hadn't. Returned to office and she icily said she had told me she took picture of confirmation and would give it to manager to correct. She had not said that (and I didn't see her take a picture) and said so but she insisted she had. I let it drop. A week later, with no refund, I called manager who said he hadn't been told about it. He said he would call me back but never did. My bank refunded the money. I was glad to get it but refund should have come from motel. Poor

Positive: How I went to go pay for another day, the cleaning lady was 2 doors down & then I came back. My brother had gotten up out of bed to use the bathroom & he asked me hey bro did you come back in & leave again? & I said NO WHY? He then proceeded to tell me Negative: That someone came in my room w/out knocking and left n shut the door after they realized someone was in my room. So needless to say I felt as if I needed to take my luggage with me every time I left the room.
