Sonesta Essential Savannah

I would recommend this hotel! Especially compared to the surrounding hotels. It is very clean and spacious. Everything was sanitized well, and upkept well. I was also traveling alone and I felt completely safe here to relax, which was amazing. Mr. Menon the manager is so cute and hospitable 🫶 He made me feel right at home during my stay!

Driving from South Florida to South Carolina for Thanksgiving, we needed a room right off I-95. Since it was a quick overnight stay, we wanted something cheap and clean. I was put off by so many negative reviews for hotels in the area so I decided to “wing it” with Sonesta and I’m happy I did! This property checked all the boxes and more. Clean oversized room with comfy queen beds, refrigerator, microwave, walk-in shower (helpful for handicapped person), well priced with complimentary hot breakfast and safe location right off I-95. But the best part is the super friendly and helpful staff. At 1 A.M., we were checked in by the hotel manager Abhi. At 11 A.M., the same gentleman helped with the check-out process. First the good things: All of the staff (which is pretty bare bones) are very friendly and helpful. It feels like a family affair, and hotel hospitality is a hard business. Plenty of parking and near some restaurants (Applebee's, Ruby Tuesdays, etc), as their breakfast was, well, as they say in the South, "Bless their hearts". Again, they tried, but the eggs and sausage were, well, but at least the make it yourself waffles covered for some unspeakable breakfast sins. And the coffee? Yikes. The coffeemaker is a professional Bunn model, but I've never had coffee so bad.||On to the room. The first room was very large, the room and bathroom clean and clean smelling. Positive: It was impeccably clean! It was a GREAT stay for a reasonable price! The amenities were ?no frills? but the cleanliness totally made up for it! Negative: Offering breakfast was nice, though the food was mediocre. As mentioned, the cleanliness made of for any small area the basic accommodations may have been lacking.

Overall, this is a very nice hotel and a comfortable place to stay after a long drive. I did experience a couple of issues during my visit. There was a noticeable marijuana odor coming from a room directly across the hall prior to my arrival. Although the area appeared to have been cleaned, this was concerning given that the hotel is advertised as non-smoking. Additionally, the television in my room was not working properly—there was sound but no picture. I reported this at checkout, and the staff was very polite and helpful. That said, the staff overall was friendly, the breakfast in the morning was quite good, and the room rate was reasonable. Despite the issues noted, the stay was generally pleasant.
