Sonesta ES Suites Tempe

We've stayed here multiple times and most often it's adequate. I really enjoy the full size refrigerator and kitchen. The rooms are often comfortable and the beds soft. The rooms are mostly clean each time in certain buildings, but when they are not clean they can be really rough. The service is to be desired for sure. The front desk staff turns over nearly every time we visit. The breakfast staff can be a bit moody, and the buffet food isn't special. The amenities don't always work (i.e. hot tub, internet, etc.) The location is by far the most stand out feature of the property. Would never stay here by choice. We were booked into this hotel for a soccer tournament by the tournament’s travel company. The only good things I can say about this hotel are it’s clean and in a convenient location. This hotel is lacking in even the most basic conveniences. Our “suite” is set up like an efficiency apartment with the bed facing the pullout sofa with no separation whatsoever. If one person is awake, everyone is awake. There is one television on a sort of swivel stand that can be viewed by the bed or the sofa but not both. There were no linens in the room for the pullout sofa. The blanket we were given upon request is of the same type as a disposable ambulance blanket. There were only two towels for a reservation of three people. This is great for long term stays. The rooms are very clean. No issues with any of the appliances. Plenty of parking. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Location is very convenient. Close to the freeways. Lots of stores and restaurants nearby and across the street. The TV is small 36 inch and old. Some streaming shows on Netflix and YouTube could not play due the TVs age. My biggest issue is the bed. Extremely FIRM and old (5 years+) Lighting is very dim. Especially at night. During the day the windows definitely brighten up the room.

I arrived at the Sonesta ES Suites in Tempe at 3 AM, exactly as I had told the employee who answered the phone the night before. I specifically asked if I could have a late checkout since I wouldn’t be arriving until between 2 and 3 am, she said I’d have to ask the front desk in the morning because she didn’t know what they had going on. The moment I walked in, the front desk employee greeted me with, “I’m already running audit.” No welcome, no courtesy. When I asked what that meant for my check‑in, she told me, “I already have you as a no‑show because my coworker said you’d be here at 12.” That is absolutely false — I clearly stated I’d arrive around 2–3 AM.
