Sofitel Chicago Magnificent Mile

Sofitel Chicago continues to be one of my favorite stays in the city. What I appreciate most is the discretion. It’s tucked away just enough to feel private and quiet, yet still perfectly positioned near everything. From the moment you walk in, there’s a noticeable calm. The hallways are polished and serene, the elevators are smooth and efficient, and the overall energy feels refined without being overdone. The decor is hands down sexy. Dark wood finishes, sculptural lighting, and clean architectural lines give the space a confident, modern feel. The room layout is functional and thoughtfully designed. Our hotel room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The bathroom felt luxurious and was a great touch, especially with the provided robes. The bed was extremely comfortable, making it easy to relax and get a good night’s sleep. The workout facilities were also clean and well maintained. We really appreciated the noon checkout, which allowed us to enjoy a slow, relaxing morning. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy, making the overall stay smooth and enjoyable. Would stay here again!

We were in town for a wedding and chose to stay at the Sofitel due to it's proximity to the church and reception venue. From the moment you arrive, the staff greets you with exceptional service including the valet parking attendants, bell hops, and front desk staff. The lobby was beautiful and welcoming and our room was perfect. We were on the 28th floor with a really nice view of the city. Beds were super comfortable and all the amenities needed were included. Since it was December, the hotel was decorated nicely for the holiday. Will definitely stay again on our next visit to the city.

I wanted to enjoy my stay at Sofitel Chicago, because there is a lot this hotel gets right — unfortunately, the service issues were too frequent and too significant to overlook. The good: The hardscape and physical property are excellent. The lobby and rooms are well designed, high quality, and very clean. From a purely visual and build standpoint, the hotel feels upscale and well maintained. The restaurant spaces are also attractive and thoughtfully designed. The bad (and unfortunately, the defining part of the stay): The service was consistently poor across multiple touchpoints. Dinner service: Attentiveness was lacking from the start. I ordered a cocktail when I sat down — it never arrived. I followed up and asked again, and it still never came. The food itself was about 3-star quali
