Smart Suites, Ascend Hotel Collection

I just stayed two nights at Larkin Hospitality’s “Smart Suites on the Hill.” It was the most unsafe, and unhygienic, hotel experience I’ve had in 40 years of traveling.||||On my first night I encountered roaches eating toothpaste off my toothbrush, as well as off the toothpaste tube. I snatched my toothbrush and they skittered down the drain of the sink. I was able to make a couple frames of the stragglers with my iPhone (attached). I spent the next half an hour wrapping my belongings in plastic bags.||||I wanted out of the hotel and the next morning asked the front desk clerk Karen for the manager’s name and number, which she provided. I called the manager Holy over and over throughout the day, to no avail; the phone just rang and rang—never going to voicemail.||||In the evening I asked a

The room was a great size given the price but I was told it was updated. The kitchen sink had no cold water the bathroom tub barely drained. The ac was covered by the drapes so it was hard to feel the cold air. Lastly there was no maid service. I had to get my own towels and no one made the bed refilled the products which were given sparingly and the room cleaned. I need to return to Vermont quite often now that my daughter is attending the university so I was hoping it would be the hotel.

The staff were very friendly and courteous. The room was spacious with kitchen. I love that! Though there was mold smell from the beddings. The breakfast was good but with limited options. The only fruit available was apples.

Rooms are clean, spacious, and suite is well equipped for a longer stay. Gwen at the front desk was very helpful with checking us in.

Not sure where to start ! Ugh …. The hotel is so run down, outdated and filthy . The carpets are beyond gross . That’s a tough word . I’m so sorry . I have pics of the wall/trim near bathroom . Either vomit /urine/ drink spilled all over, maybe coffee . Paid $350 . A disgrace . Yes, I knew it was 3.5 stars . Unfortunately , it was the only hotel available that wasn’t $600 to visit our college student . No it wasn’t parents weekend. Ok , could it get worse …. Yes ! I used the bathroom almost immediately after unpacking a bit . The toilet overflowed. Only “#1” toilet water everywhere . We repacked went to lobby . The check in associate said she would be up to clean it up . ??? No offer of another room while she cleaned it , dealt with the mess . She used paper towels and disinfectant ! W
