Sleep Inn & Suites Chesapeake - Portsmouth

A very honest review - I did not have a great experience at this hotel for multiple reasons. First off, the hotel lobby/common spaces seemed cleaned and smelled nice. However, the second I opened the door to my actual room, it was like a barrier of old Nicotine, and Mustiness that was a bit overwhelming (This is a Non Smoking establishment), you got used to it initially, but after being in the room for awhile it did feel hard to stay in there. The ventilation was not great, I could not just adjust it, and the Fan system kicked on every like 4 hours for about 15 minutes and then was off again so you could hear absolutely everything in other rooms, kids crying, conversations, loud TVs, etc. The most concerning issue was it just did not feel safe here. While the room was fine the amenities were not of the quality I would expect for the price paid. The breakfast is bare bones and lackluster. Watered down juice and the least expensive options available are served. The pool and hot tub area needs attention. The water in the hot tub was green on both occasions I stayed..a year apart. The paint needs updated and the jets are barely working. The parking area has smelled like marijuana both times I've stayed and the choice hotel reserved area was being used both times by cars with people just hanging out or waiting on someone. It just feels sketchy to am older woman traveling alone. I chose this hotel to utilize the hot tub and pool to unwind after working and traveling. Nice rooms...very nice staff...the rooms pay rate was a nice pay rate and serve nice breakfast in the morning...the hotel had washer dryers that work...so that was good for me and my family

Not the best but not the worst! Security doors are never locked so anyone can get in or out or even inside the pool area. Be very careful if you have children! There is no Hot breakfast just a waffle maker! Apple, yogurt, cereal and muffins… beds are not really comfortable but room for most part is clean. If you do stay here, you have to go across the street to this Japanese restaurant Sakura sushi and grill! It is top notch and the staff is amazing.

I stay here everytime I am in town but this time I notice they did not clean as well a normal. The light kept flickering so I had to move the bed off this plug and it was very nasty behind ( old baby bottle with spoiled milk and other stuff). Overall, my stay was nice it was quite.
