Sleep Inn Asheville - Biltmore West

As I pulled into the parking lot, I immediately noticed how clean and well-kept the facility grounds and hotel exterior were. Inside, I was greeted by a very friendly front desk representative along with someone who appeared to be in training. The lobby area was bright, organized, and clutter-free — a great first impression. My room was spotless, comfortable, and well-prepared. Breakfast was exactly what you’d expect from a quality hot breakfast included with your stay — fresh, well-stocked, and served at appropriate temperatures. Throughout my visit, every staff member I encountered was smiling, courteous, and genuinely friendly — something you don’t see often these days, unfortunately. We stayed at the Sleep Inn on December 25-27 while visiting Asheville on Christmas break. It was my first time staying at a Sleep Inn and it’s definitely one of the two best value chains in the US along with Quality Inn. Not a fancy hotel guy. In my view, you get the same basic amenities and only the quality and additional perks vary depending on how much more you spend. Sleep Inn has great beds, the room was clean, it had all the basics, and the staff were great. The breakfast wasn’t the best, but I appreciate them serving hot and cold items at the price point. We paid $71 a night which was absolutely excellent value. Cleaning is done every three days. Completely understandable given the value you get, but you can always ask for daily cleaning if you want.

On October 15, I stayed at a hotel that was recommended through the AMEX travel program as a four-star property. Unfortunately, the quality was far from four stars—barely two stars would be accurate. When I checked into my first assigned room, I was greeted by loud music blaring so loudly that it was audible from the hallway. I informed the front desk, and they moved me to a second room, but it smelled strongly of fresh cigarette smoke. After confirming this issue with the front desk, they assigned me a third room. However, when I entered this room, I was shocked to find someone already lying on the bed with the TV on. I was with my mother who is in her late 80's. She and I enjoy cleanliness and that is what we experienced. Also, extremely quiet and very comfortable and safe. Brenda at the front desk was also wonderful. (which I found scarce these days!). The comp breakfast was very convenient. Both our beds and the room overall were way above par.

Before I go any further, I want to make it very clear that this hotel was VERY CLEAN, and the gentleman who checked us in was very genuine and kind. But, there was no hot water in our room. After letting the water run for 10 minutes set to "Hot," I went to the front desk. The same guy who checked us in immediately came to our room to see the problem. He said that the people on the floor above us must have used all of the hot water. Again, he was very kind. He offered us a chance to move to another room, but we were unpacked and settled in, so I opted to take my shower in a different room. The next morning, there was still no hot water in our room, so maybe it was due to a mechanical problem. I was checked out by a lady. When I asked for a receipt, she told me that she couldn't give
