Shore Cliff Hotel

My husband and I stayed here on a Friday and Saturday night. I booked this place via Expedia for a deluxe oceanfront room at premium rates due to it being the weekend. When we arrived and were assigned a room on the first floor, I knew it didn’t sound right. I asked the front desk receptionist if it was an oceanfront room to which she replied it was a beach view along with the pier. I told her that’s not what I reserved. She said because we were not getting the room we reserved, she was giving us a $30 discount on the room, which I thought strange that she didn’t disclose upfront. We arrived late and I really didn’t want to deal with the headache of cancelling and rebooking elsewhere, especially with it being a weekend. Appreciate dog accommodation, but…Expect $105 in fees on checkout, which included a previously undisclosed $15 parking fee. Don’t appreciate the $35 resort fee when we had to listen to construction noise from 8:29 am on a Sunday. Half the property is closed for renovation and had to park in unsafe feeling unlit space in front of a closed down building. Amenities such as fire pits and bocce ball couldn’t be used without getting assistance from reception. However the location of the property is beautiful, situated high on the cliffs overlooking Pismo beach and nice walk along the front and down steps to the beach. The room its self was very nice, seems recently refurbished. Bed very comfortable. Soundproofing not great. Checkin was at 4 although I was told 3 so we had to wait on arrival.

Our room was breathtaking with views on the South, East and West side of the beach. Our room was on the 3rd floor corner. The large sliding glass doors opened up to a view of Pismo Beach downtown area you could see the long coast line. The suites sliding glass doors opened up to the oceans sunrise and sunset. The relaxed atmosphere of being away from home ahhh. The suite was clean and had all the extra things we needed: glass dishes silverware extra blankets & pillows, so many bath towels, a coffee pot & a tea pot. The swimming pool was amazing. The breakfast was great with many choices of hot and cold foods and drinks. The staff is the best Samantha and Felicia helped us with check in and check out. I will go back and ask for the same room love the location.

Positive: The location was good as well as a beautiful view of the sunset. Hotel employee was the best at helping us. Even changed our room to the view since it was our first time there and thought we had gotten the right room. Negative: There was construction going on which was not disclosed anywhere. Parking was supposed to be free but was charged $15 for it. The nightstand and chester drawers would open on their own and stick out. Not sure if it was just old or leaning hotel.

The front desk staff when we arrived was beyond nice and helpful. She also recommended places for dinner which was a plus. Our stay didn't quite go as we'd like, we had to deal with getting rid of ants that were on our bed and inside the whole restroom. We were woken up by construction in the building across from us which is a part of the resort and staff yelling in the hallway before 8 am on a Sunday morning. While the staff was amazing not so much the noise and having to deal with the ants.
