Stumbled upon this motel on our way to Monument Valley 30 years ago. Charming location built into the side of a red rock formation next to the San Juan River. it is only a hop skip and jump to Monument Valley. Stayed again 20 years ago now that I am remembering. The room was good enough and the TV worked and we got a good night sleep.

It's a dump on a great location. Value was not good. Overpriced. Motel 6 quality too. Actually Motel 6's are a bit better. Owner nickel and dimes at check in and is very rude. Restaurant isn't much better. Bring Ramen Noodles to spare the agony.

- The peephole on the door was broken and stuffed with tissues instead of being repaired. - The door lock did not work properly, which made the room completely unsafe. Despite the obvious lack of security, the management still considers this room acceptable to rent out, which is extremely concerning. It is a serious security issue. I would not recommend staying here

The hotel is by the bridge over the San Juan river on the main road. The building is stretched out over 2 floors. Check-in was quick. The room is big enough with two queen size beds, a fridge and a des. There is a shower and a separate wash basin. There is a bar and restaurant were coffee is available. In the bar alcoholic beverages are only served together with a meal. There is a menu with basic choices, but the food is good. Our room had the disadvantage on being ground floor, so every footstep above is heard. Else the room is quiet. The only disturbance is the A/C, which becomes quiet when the desired temperature is reached, but comes on at full power when the threshold is reached. This woke me up a few times. Classic motel layout.Quaint as built right against rock wall. Breakfast not included but you are 'expected' to buy it at adjacent diner. Same for dinner. Food relatively cheap but average quality. Coffee good and free. Service slow. Recommend bringing own breakfast like yoghurt and fruit. There is a 7eleven very close but best to buy provision in Blanding if travelling through. None of this reflects negatively on motel. Mattress too soft though.
