We travelled in September and stayed one night during a 3 week road trip. We were pleasantly surprised with staying here, as in this area, it's usually motels for a quick stopover, without many pools etc, but this place seems to be wanting to elevate itself beyond that, and has recently done out their pool area which was a bit plus for us. The motel itself is older style, but clean and spacious. We booked for a rear facing top floor room with river views, so was the most expensive option, but wasn't overly priced given the location. It was quiet with not too many guests when we stayed, and we were able to take advantage of the empty pool area for ages! It's right on the river, so you can watch the lazy brown waters passing by while either sitting in the sun on one of the many new loun
The team at the hotel was incredibly helpful in finding a room for my elderly spouse (who cannot climb steps well) and me. The room was very well appointed and the location of the inn is great for visiting Monument Valley. Definitely stay here!
Lovely stay with a few safety concerns Hat Rock Inn’s location is beautiful and remote, and the 24/7 pool was a real highlight — clean, well-maintained, and perfect after a long day of travel. The room interior was nice, comfortable, and a pleasant surprise given the property’s rustic setting. However, the balcony outside our room had open nails and rotten boards, which felt unsafe and really should be addressed. There was also no information provided about local trips or activities, which would have made exploring easier. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but fixing these safety issues and offering more visitor guidance would make this an outstanding place to stay.
I honestly don’t understand how this place can be rated four stars. It feels like they must have given that rating to themselves. The exterior is completely run down, with broken windows and an aging façade. The only part that seems to have received some attention is the back area around the pool. The plastic palm trees are also a strange choice. When we arrived, we had to wait a long time at reception because the staff member had left. There was absolutely no one there, and we had to call to get someone to come. On the positive side, the rooms have been recently renovated, so they are clean and pleasant. However, the air conditioning was extremely noisy, like a plane taking off and didn’t even work properly. As for dining options nearby, the restaurants are overpriced and honestly not
Hat Rock Inn was a nice place to stay. The rooms with 2 double beds were very clean with comfy linens. The staff was friendly and made us feel welcome despite not having reservations. The pool area was fantastic for kids and adults after a long day of travel. We also enjoyed dinner at the recommended establishment. It was a limited menu, a bit overpriced ($20 for steak burger with beans and salad), but comfort-good and very filling and server was accommodating. Overall, a solid hotel with good service and a nice atmosphere.
