Customer Reviews
Great location close to the beach. Love the nature center and they even have a nature lady who talks about animals, bugs and many other things in nature every Tuesday and Thursday. Currently she is only there till there's of August but hopefully they extend that, so more kids and families can learn great things about nature.
The campground is beautiful and mostly empty. It may be because the website is impossible to navigate, the ladies at the front desk are unable and unwilling to help you book another night, they don't come out to help you sign in, there are no signs to tell you how to check in, and it is more expensive than a local motel. It's really a shame because it's a beautiful location.
We have been camping here for many years, mainly for the location. The cleaning this year is much improved over last year, but some of the infrastructure is very old and worn. Showers in B/A bathhouse don't drain and there are no shower curtains so it's hard to keep your towel and clothes dry. Boardwalks and beach bathrooms have been improved. Boat ramp is handy and pretty much empty on week days even in August.
The bathrooms have a sign up saying they close at 7:30 am. I set my alarm at 7am to make it to the bathroom on time by 7:10 and two days in a row they were closed, I had to walk to the open bathrooms farther down the road with a hurt leg. It's unfortunate they can't be more accurate with the time they schedule clean the bathrooms. Also, only one shower works in the main bathroom and the second bathroom has two working making wait times extremely long for showers, the open one was gross with wades of hair in the drain and dirty floor. Those are the TWO things that bother me! However, we do enjoy camping so close to the beach the kids can scoot around on scooters and have fun. Bring extra tie downs for your tent, ours was tied down and the wind was so strong it broke the poles so we ended up
Came at the end of the season for one night in our 25' self-contained on our way to Nova Scotia - it was peaceful and quiet and well maintained. Had an inlet beach side site. Beach walk access is close and convenient. There are LOADS of sites though and it was around $80 for one night with hookups - these are very high city prices for s state park. Although it was mostly empty when we stayed, we personally would never pay this much during peak and are grateful we didn't have to endure the massive crowding that is surely potential here. If we weren't in a time bind, we would have stayed elsewhere for better value and better privacy (depending on the time of year).
