River Trail Inn Damascus

We stayed for 6 nights in the Autumn Room. We were very impressed with the quality and cleanliness of the room. The beds were comfortable and we appreciated the well furnished kitchen and the full size refrigerator/freezer. There was a table with 4 chairs and overhead light that was perfect for eating and other activities. The balcony overlooking the Virginia Creeper trail and Laurel Creek was great - we made full use of the porch swing and rocking chairs. Downtown Damascus with several great restaurants and shops was just a short walk down the Creeper trail, and the Appalachian Trail runs right through town so is very convenient. All in all, a very enjoyable stay and we will be back.

Very nice place to stay! Super clean, nicely furnished. This sounds like a picky thing to add, but the towels in the room were awesome: thick and soft. There is a back deck with rocking chairs and a porch swing with an excellent view of The Virginia Creeper Trail and the river down below and overlooks a quaint farm across the river. Super market and pizza restaurant in walking distance down the road. Very close to downtown Damascus where there are restaurants and bike rental shops. This was an excellent choice for our visit to bike the Creeper!

What a great room at the Inn! A full kitchen, great bed, balcony with swing and rockers, and what a view of the stream and farmland beyond. Plus a firepit for a great evening break while listening to the water. Just a few minutes walk to town to bars and a couple restaurants, gave us everything we needed. The bike ride from Abington was awesome (if you are out of shape, get the EV bike and definitely get the "gel" seat). Scenery was beautiful. We had a blast! Will definitely be back!

We were traveling to the area for a two day event, so we were only staying overnight for one night. I am really glad we booked the river trail inn instead of a chain hotel! It would have been nice to stay here for a few nights. The kitchen area had everything you could need. The porch overlooking the river is really peaceful. Rooms are clean and modern. We got in a bind, and Carrie was so quick and willing to help. Amazing service. We really appreciated the paved handicap spot that worked great for our power wheelchair user and the wheelchair accessible van.

Perfect location, perfect room, and perfect view. The Virginia Creeper Trail is right behind the Inn. Our rooms were immaculate and we loved that we had a mini kitchen although we didn’t use it. Favorite breakfast and dining spot was Damascus Diner. Also loved Damascus Old Mill Inn and Wilson’s Cafe and Grill. Drove 45 minutes to hike The Channels. Another great activity and would highly recommend. If you don’t want to travel with bikes there are plenty of places to rent bikes. Will definitely be back. Missing this place already!
