Damascus Old Mill Inn

My fiancé and I had a wonderful night at the Old Mill. The room we stayed in had a comfortable king size bed. There was a balcony overlooking the waterfall. Beautiful dining area to have your complimentary breakfast the next morning. Late 11 a.m. checkout! Very affordable. We had drinks and some "bar food". Very pleased with both! My fiancé's friend Paul runs the bar area and an open mic on Saturday nights. Awesome, laid back atmosphere. Cannot wait to get back for a visit!

We stayed a few nights for our anniversary. It was an amazing place to stay. Everyone was so nice to us from checking in to our breakfast with homemade blueberry muffins. Our room was clean and the bed was so comfortable. There isn’t a lot to do in town but a nice little town to visit if you’re planning on going to ride the Virginia Creeper Trail.

I can't say enough wonderful things about my stay here. The room was absolutely charming, with a king bed, jacuzzi tub, and a balcony with the spectacular river view. The complimentary breakfast served was a full, real country breakfast and delicious. Every staff member I met was more than gracious, kind, and hospitable-- each of them made my visit even more of a delight. Dinner at the restaurant was perfection: from the incredible views, the perfectly cooked steak, the (highly recommended) pot roast and potatoes with gravy, to the giant pretzel appetizer, the key lime pie, and the impeccable service, everything was fabulous. Even the hostess won me over with her thoughtfulness. The bourbon bar was an added bonus! 5 stars! I can't wait to come back.

We just joined some family members here for dinner. We both order their "SPECIAL" bone in Ribeye, all I can say is it was, BY FAR, the worst steak I have ever had. $49.95 for a plate of non chewable burnt mess. I tried to return it, and the manager BROUGHT BACK MY SAME STEAK and said the outer portion may be medium well (I ordered a medium rare) but the very center is medium rare (thus he was saying only 1/4 was properly cooked, eat it anyway) and did nothing about the fact that neither mine or my father's could be chewed! $120.00 spent, and we stopped and got chicken on our way home!!

For our anniversary we stayed in one of the Fortune House rooms. It's part of the Damascus Old Mill Inn. We loved the pine floors and old mahogany furniture and my husband said it was more like visiting friends or family than staying at a hotel. It reminded me of the nice bed and breakfasts in many parts of Europe. The staff was exceptional. We ate lunch at the restaurant where we had a view of the water falling over the dam (the same water that tried to wash away Damascus during Helene), the ducks and geese taking off and touching down on parts of the water, and the turning autumn leaves. The food was fantastic at each meal. The room space was spotless with wonderful bed linens and towels, and because I'm allergic to synthetic fragrances, it was a godsend that this place launders and cle
