Redondo Pier Inn

This was an inexpensive choice in the area. The room was basic but clean enough and we had a little view of the church building out the window but it was so dark. TV worked. The painting of the walls was dark brown in the parking garage and the outside of the building. It just felt dark. Parking as available for us but tight spots if next to larger truck. There was an elevator that worked there was coffee in the registration office in the morning. Look for the relatively cheap prices online. Quiet enough, on weekday.

I’ve lived in LA for 10 years and I’ve traveled a lot. This hotel could be much worse, given the price and proximity to the beach. I paid $125/night. On a 3rd party site. The bad: Mold in the room, bad smells, itchy linens. Hard pillows. Towels threadbare. Cheap toiletries. WIFI does not work at all. Tested 1.42 MBPS. Nothing on TV. Coffee machine sucks (really gross) and they take away the cups, so bring your own mug if you want bedtime tea. Because the price is reasonable by LA standards, you get some riff raff staying here. I used to live in this neighborhood and it’s pretty safe, but I can’t say anything about hotel guests. The location is far from the rest of LA attractions, so you’ll need a car. The good: beach is a 10 minute walk, there are loads of good restaurants within walking

The mattress was comfortable which helped offset the rock hard pillows. The tub looked like it had been resurfaced at some point, but had chips and rust stains. The sink faucet was loose. The towels were well, and I do mean *well* used, small and thin. I think the staff was doing the best they could, but they don't have much to work with. Would not go back.

Location: 5 stars Room: 2 stars Service: 1 star I have a baseline for hotels: cleanliness, safety, decent service, working amenities, and a smooth experience. This place fell short. The lobby had a strong odor at check-in, and while the front desk person wasn’t rude, they weren’t welcoming either. The parking fee didn’t match the website, and there was no rate or total confirmation provided — very odd. The room was clean but basic — fridge didn’t work, closet shelf broken. The toilet clogged almost immediately, and when I called the front desk, the staff tried to hand me a plunger. If the room included a plunger then I would have taken action myself, however not providing a plunger leaves the responsibility to the hotel.
