Red Roof Inn Memphis East

My daughter and I were driving from Phoenix, AZ to NC and booked a room for one night through Expedia. On the Expedia app this Red Roof Inn had many positive reviews and photos of nicely updated rooms. The rooms are NOT at all as advertised. They smelled terribly of stale smoke, the walls were battered and very dirty, the secondary lock on the door was broken, the lamps and such were extremely dusty and spattered with lord knows what. But wait! There's more! The hot water was cold, the cold water was hot in the shower, the sink was all cracked and, well, we will let the photos tell it all about the floor. And the blood? Dirt? on the curtain.....On the plus side, they offer free WiFi and the female receptionist was very nice.

Positive: Its closeness to stores. Negative: Frying my clothes was 2.25 and didn’t dry do I asked the desk person and hf said they were not responsible for that even though it’s connected to the hotel. I had to pay an additional 2.25. I asked got a refund because it was only 1130 denied that

As I pulled up to the Red Roof Inn I wasn't sure if I wanted to get out the car. The place does not look as it does on these pictures. It is run down and it seems to be not safe. Since I was staying only one night I told myself to tough it out. When I checked in, I tried to walk in the hobby but it was locked. You have to check in through a plexiglass with cameras on you. It made me feel uncomfortable to the point I asked the front desk clerk was it safe for me to stay by myself. He said, yes but I felt like I was in a corner store in the city. I walked to my room and noticed the signs saying "No loitering or the sheriff will be called" posted every 30 feet. Once in my room, I noticed the carpet was nasty, so I kept something on my feet. Went in here looking for clean and smell free. The man that met me at the entrance got immediately angry when I asked what would happen if there was a problem with the room? This man started yelling at me, cussing at me and told me they don't need customers like me there. I tried to explain the 2 messes i had already left, just needed decent nothing fancy, he just continued to tell me to leave, tell me over and over get out, and don't come back! Wow! I hand never been so disgusted and insulted by his behavior! Don't stay there, it's a tight area and the hotels/motels are all being bought by people that imo don't value the type of cleanings we expect in a motel room. It was soooo difficult and this man mad me wish I hadn't even bothered stopping. He needs to be fired. It was just b4 midnigh

I made a reservation for 12/26-12/28/25. I came to pay for the reservation then the tall older man with greys starts being disrespectful and belittled me like I was a criminal and called me dumb and stupid and used you people. He is very unprofessional and he's behavior is DISGUSTING. HE wants to use your people in his mouth that's the most ignorant thing you can say when he's in the same category of YOU PEOPLE. His visa needs to be revoked. He shouldn't deal with the public
