Red Roof Inn Durham - Duke Univ Medical Center

Location was perfect when visiting family. Very reasonable price and comfortable beds, Though signs said it was non-smoking, my room smelled like cleanser plus smoke. Easily remedied with air conditioning. Had no cleaning (I stayed 5 nights) which I prefer. Clean room.

I want to give a big shoutout to Alex at the front desk! From the moment I arrived, he’s been nothing but kind, professional, and incredibly helpful. He went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable and had everything. It’s rare to come across someone who genuinely cares and takes pride in their work the way he does. He truly made my experience at Red Roof a positive one. Thank you, Alex!

HONEST AND FAIR REVIEW. This is close to Duke. However, It has nothing to do with the university. You get what you pay for. If you’re on a budget and need a place to stay, then it is what it is. The room and washroom wasn’t horrible. It was very outdated but the sheets were clean. There was no stains on the bed. I did not see any bugs during my stay (thank goodness as I saw that in other reviews) I will not be staying again, only because of safety reasons. The clientele was…. I was on the first floor and around 3-4am both nights, there was screaming and yelling and at one point banging on my door. I also felt very nervous parking my car there. The staff were nice enough. Checking in and out was fast and easy. It’s your typical 2-3 star Motel.

Can't wear bare feet or they will be black. Shower rod was so bent that I couldn't close the curtain and water flooded the floor. Dog hair and smell of dogs amd mildew even after they "cleaned" meaning spraying cologne so strong it made my head hurt all around the room and sweeping, not vacuuming even though they said they would. Also they lie and tell you that there are no rooms available when you ask for a better one, just to avoid the trouble of letting you switch. Not worth the $80. Loud highway and people arguing outside, had to keep music on to barely be able to sleep. Spend your $80 at extended stay its a (slightly) better deal for your hard earned money.
