Red Lion Hotel Houston Intercontinental Airport

The staff IS polite and courteous. I’ll give them that, but the facility is run down (There is some renovation going on on the first floor at least they’ve got it torn apart). I found it odd that there was no bar soap and it was extremely annoying that I was given a room about as far away from the lobby as possible. It is like a maze getting around that place. There were few guests there, I didn’t like that at all. In addition, you’ve got a business hotel by the airport and a bar that serves only beer and wine. How does that happen? As far as the good my room was clean and though the breakfast is skimpy, they did have some pretty damned awesome breakfast burritos. I mean they were great!

I had to stay here after United delayed me 23 hours. Seemed fine at first. Called room service a couple of times and never got back to me. Had to go down and order it. They were short staffed so it didn't bother me much. The main reason this is getting a 2 star rating is cleanliness. There were a couple of obvious stains on the ground, but the biggest was one of the towels had dried residue. Almost like something sticky went through the dryer and hardened. Just felt grossed out afterwards. The friendly staff kept it from a 1 star. Maybe just a bad night to stay here, but can't recommend because of it.

I am rating this Hotel a 4 star. Because customer service is good. I have a couple of suggestion for management. You have a great staffing, the food is amazing and cocktails. My first suggestion is the lay out of the restaurant is really old fashion. The carpet needs to be change for more modern look. The plants are taking the vision from the outside. Trash can and staff wrapping dinner ware by the bar while customers eating “not a good look” definitely needs to be done by a waitress station in the back. The girls are great but they need to have their hair up “ they serving food”, It should be a door by the bar hallway towards the kitchen, customer do not want to see what’s going on in the back, to much attention. We first stayed at this property 2 nights in December 2017 when it was a different brand and had a very positive experience. Note: our stays have been booked through ParkSleepFly.com as we were looking for a property close to airport with secured parking, for stays the night before our travel and the night of our return. We stayed again in January 2019 after it was Red Lion branded and found it somewhat less of a positive experience. Our most recent stay was January 2020 - and it will be our last stay here. ||The check in at arrival the first night was okay, but not great. Our room did not have tissues (Kleenex). Surprisingly nice for the price. Free breakfast. Clean nice room friendly staff. They don't really go above and beyond. But do their jobs politely and efficiently.only issue was one spotting of a roach. In my room. See one there's a million. I'd definitely recommend them if for some reason you needed to stay in the area.
