Radisson Hotel Santa Maria

It is our first time here and me and my family love it. Friendly staff, they put us in their new renovated room and it is nice and very clean. I’m laying down on the bed while writing this and I could smell the fresh clean sheets it 10/10 for me.

Due to a fire in our house, my son and I checked in to this hotel. Went to the 3rd floor room and our eyes started burning, also our noses and throats were burning. Started coughing and wheezing. Went out to the hallway and saw that the plastic which was to protect people from exposure to construction dust was not interact at several places as the masking tape was off. Dust on the interior banister was very thick. We ran out of the building and symptoms lessened. Went to front desk and told them why we couldn't stay. We were not supposed to be charged for the nite since it was due to their negligence of not seeing to the health and safety of guests. They charged my credit card anyway. Stay elsewhere. They are greedy and don't care about the health of their guests.

There was no Wi-Fi connection available in our room, and the reception staff who assisted us did not inform us of this issue. As a result, I had to use my phone’s hotspot so that my children could use their devices. In addition, there was a strong paint odor in our room, which raised health concerns for our family. Rooms that have recently been renovated should be thoroughly aired out and cleared of strong chemical smells before being made available to guests. Allowing occupancy under these conditions may pose health risks and could potentially affect compliance with health and safety regulations.

The heater was necessary as there were no extra blankets in the room and the heater was extremely noisy. Every time it started up it awakened us or made it so we couldn't carry on a conversation--EXTREMELY noisy! Parking lot light shined into our room, however I was finally able to work some light blocking curtains. Perhaps someone should check out the room before renting it out to hear the heater when it comes on.

I think when the renovations are done, things may be different. But this stay was pretty un-accommodating. Would hope management would know that given all the dust and chaos of being mid-renovation, that they would offset a guest’s experience a bit more. 1. No WiFi signal in room 329. That entire side of the hotel, essentially. 2. No ice or vending machines available 3. Fire alarm went off at 3:30am on Christmas Eve 4. TV system was not working. Initial Direct TV wasn’t available. New guide was impossible to navigate. No way to see what channels were live and what was on.
