Radisson Hotel Lenexa Overland Park

The hotel is nice enough. Not hard to get to, has clean rooms, a very nice lobby and facilities, and a decent breakfast bar. But the hallways are ancient: frayed carpet, extremely dated paint, with noticeable chips in places. At least one elevator was completely out of service. The climate control in the rooms was completely unpredictable. I was staying in the hotel for a convention. A number of our party, myself included, could not get the temperature in the rooms to lower despite how far down we tuned the thermostat. For example, I have the thermostat in my room turned down to 62, with the fan on constant. I had the setting switched to cool. But for my entire stay, the room remained in the lower 80s. We checked in and went to the room; the ac wasn't working, and the room was at 81 degrees. While going to the front desk noticed the hotel flooring wasn't in great shape, at the front desk we were informed the hotel was full and they would send maintenance. Then the boss showed and was able to relocate us to a different room. Once in the room the heat/ac was making noise but nothing coming out of the vents and the room was warm once again. We ended up searching for another hotel and the city is booked up from different events, so we decided to tough it out. We opened both doors and was able to get some fresh air in to cool it off. Absolutely miserable experience, ac didn't work in either of the rooms we were in after having to go To the front counter 5 times to move into another room with the same problem so we weren't able to sleep. Hot tub and pool were disgusting and murky and smelled like mold. Police were coming constantly dealing with who knows what. Rooms look nothing like they do in the pictures. One of the elevators don't work so everyone is using 1 tiny elevator. If I could give negative stars I absolutely would. Steer clear of this dump at all costs

2 issues and then the good... 1) Check In was 3pm, we arrived about 3:30pm. We were promptly booked from our reservation and given a room key. We went to the room to discover it hadn't been cleaned yet from the previous occupant. We shoved all our luggage in a corner because we had an appointment 15-minutes away. I went to the desk informed them of the room. They misunderstood & that I was saying; the room wasn't cleaned to my satisfaction. After another discussion they understood that. Then they were equally confused when I said we have to leave for a meeting and don't have time to get our luggage & wait in lobby. Positive: Bed was comfortable and they give you a bottle of water Negative: smelled, peeling paint, worn stained furniture everywhere, restaurant was closed, hot tub broken, exercise room outdated, my room was falling apart, ripped curtains, shower broken, most front desk emp. were curt and rude. Too bad bc hotel has great bones.
