Quality Inn & Suites Lawrence - University Area

Very old, outdated, and not clean. The first room’s window unit for heat and a/c smelt like urine when we had it running. On top of that, there were random pills and some Cheetos in the hideaway bed. Then they gave us two sets of linen and both had stains all over them. It was so bad that we went to the front desk to see what they could do. They offered a different room, at which point I accepted as it was late and we had a dance competition the next day. The second room was very minimally better, we basically just didn’t run the air unit at all so it wouldn’t stink in that room. We had booked a 2 night stay, and decided we would check out Saturday and go elsewhere. My daughter was dancing that morning so we didn’t get out of the hotel until 1pm. Check out is noon. The hotel needs remodeled. Parts of the ceiling were falling down, the entire place needs updated. The hotel was less than what I consider being clean. Carpets were disgusting, towels and sheets were stained, somehow my curtains had stains too. One reason I chose this hotel was because there was a hot tub advertised. However, the hot tub was covered and closed. The breakfast buffet was lacking. I would rather fresh eggs be put out instead of cheap rehydrated egg powder. All breads were stale and even the Cheerios were stale. I was very disappointed. I have stayed at the Country Inn and Suites before and had no issues at all. This hotel will NOT be getting my business again.

Positive: Nothing Negative: Everything. The owner needs a heads-up as they must not realize how poorly this hotel is being managed. Hallways were filthy when I arrived. Never vacuumed the 4 days I was there. Staff could barely speak English. Breakfast sucked. I have pictures.

Great location and service, but it is an older hotel and feels that way. We had the suite with three queen beds and it was perfect for our group. The room was dark and outdated but seemed pretty clean. The shower wasn't draining but we reported it late at night and it was fixed by the next morning. The bottom of the bathroom door had scratch marks all over it like someone had trapped an unhappy pet in there so that was a little weird. The pool wasn't the cleanest. Breakfast was fine but a little repetitive after three days. Our experience was good enough that I would stay here again just for the amazing location, but if you prefer a bright & clean feel then this probably isn't your place.

The lobby smelt of old air fresheners that was trying to cover up a smell. There is a side building similar to an old motel where we stayed and it smelt worse. I think we got a room where the dog had marked and smelt terrible running over everything in the room. The comforter was ripped and the sheets were past their usage. In the bathroom it was impossible to use the toilet paper because it was behind the door that couldn’t be closed if you were on the toilet. Mold in the bathtub and on the ceiling. The tub needs some drain cleaner because it wouldn’t drain either. Terrible stay and I’m not sure who said this place had a good cleaning review.
