Quality Inn Mesquite - Dallas East

The hotel is nice and rooms have been updated which should earn a rating of 10, but noticed several problems. New updated bathroom looks good, but sink is more ornamental than useful. Very awkward to use. Several amenities are lacking. No hair dryer or closet. First hotel I have ever stayed at that did not provide a hair dryer. Being female I need a hair dryer desperately and was shocked! That was not a vacation expense I was planning on! Very upsetting! Also, there is a tiny area where clothes can be hung, but not large or tall enough to hang clothes without wrinkling. It was an improvement over last time we stayed during construction and there wasn’t a closet at all! So being a return customer my previous rating went from a 5 to 8. lol

Accidentally booked a single room on hotels tonight and when I arrived I asked if I could pay the difference for two queen beds. I was told it would be $40 and when I asked the rate of a double it was $10 more than I paid and they still refused to upgrade for the lesser amount. Hot tub wasn’t functioning and somehow they had no extra pillows. Rooms are not bad and it’s a cheap place to stay so it’s not all bad. Had the guy just let me change rooms it would have been a 5 star review. Quality service goes a long way and it’s for sure missing here.

We checked in on Friday with departure of Sunday with no notice of a $100 deposit, normally its listed when its that high... seemed a little high for a quality inn... but ok paid it and moved on, no big deal. Elevator was out of service, ok fine, we can use the stairs no problem... little troublesome for my handicap father, but we made it work. However, the smell of weed throughout the entire hotel was nauseating. I can handle a little of smell, to each there own, but throughout the night it got worse and worse. Not just my party but several other rooms from guests that were traveling with us had the same complaint. It was very strong. It does not provide hair dryer and the hot tub didn’t work. The website was not honest with their information, or else we would have brought our own hair dryer. The person at the counter was not helpful at all and didn’t want to help. It’s $75/night. I asked for a manager or someone who I could communicate about refund or discounts. All he did was saying, "I’m sorry. I can’t." Very unpleasant and disappointing stay during my vacation.

It was apparent that maintenance was not done on this hotel for quite sometime. That being said, there were a lot of maintenance workers there while we stayed, but very little was fixed. The pool was very cold and the hot tub was not operational. The women's restroom in the lobby was out of order. The elevator was out of order. The knob in our bathtub fell off and we had to have someone come fix it (otherwise, we would have had to shower in scalding hot water). The room was decent except the A/C was extremely loud (possibly the compressor was going bad - again, maintenance needed) and the handicap room we booked did NOT have grab bars in the shower (that is a very important thing for someone with a disability).
