Quality Inn Chesterton near Indiana Dunes National Park I-94

It was ok, but for the price no, could’ve gotten something similar for less. Staff at desk was great, only real plus staying there. Forgot something in the room and they were very helpful in locating it and getting it back. Otherwise, building is older and needs repairs, room wasn’t especially clean, understand tough to find employees and good employees, and breakfast was not great, pretty much waffles and the OJ in the dispenser was not working, which is ok, not sure why hotels offer breakfast. If the price was in the $80 range, maybe.

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel! They took AMAZING care of us. Our airline changed our flight time TWICE so that we ended up taking off from SFO at 11:30pm and landing at ORD at 5am. We rented a car and drove to Chesterton, where we had a reservation at the Quality Inn for the night. We arrived around 8am. They were certainly under no obligation to check us in SEVEN FULL HOURS early, but we were so exhausted from traveling literally all night - we'd never gone to bed the night before - that we decided to ask anyway out of sheer desperation. The young woman at the front desk was SO warm and kind. Not only did she check us in, she invited us to have breakfast before collapsing in our room. Front staff were very kind and welcoming. However, my room wasn't very clean. There was mold on the heater and in the shower. I didn't even shower because it was so bad. There was dust everywhere, even on the sink. Random loose wires. Breakfast was average - they offered bagels, cereal, waffles, etc. Coffee tasted watered down. Overall, not the best hotel.

My husband and I stayed one night at this hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were super friendly and the hotel grounds and our room were clean and quiet. We had a king room on the second floor that faced the pond that had mallards and geese in it. The continental breakfast featured cold cereal, bagels, bread, yogurt, apples, breakfast burritos (which were delicious), waffles, coffee and juice. The location of this hotel is great as it’s tucked away yet close to town and is only 5 minutes from Indiana Dunes. We want to explore more of the dunes so we’ll definitely be back and would stay here again. Things to note - this hotel doesn’t have a pool and we didn’t see an elevator so if that’s needed then I would let them know and request and first floor room.

Clean hotel. Good value. Friendly and helpful staff. Good do it yourself breakfast. It is showing a bit of wear and tear. The tub faucet/shower diverter was not functioning properly. You could get the shower to work, but when you pulled up on the diverter handle, about 1/3 of the flow continued through the faucet, spraying out the sides of the faucet. On the grab bar, the cover for the top mounting flange wouldn’t stay in place. It kept sliding down to the bottom of the grab bar. It appears the top flange was mounted too close to the shower surround. When I checked out, I brought these issues to the day shift manager.
