Campsites are close together, but with enough foliage in between to feel relatively isolated. Each space on Mather had a space to park, a place for setting up a tent, a picnic table, and a fire pit. The ADA spaces are especially considerate, with enough space to exit a vehicle, paved path to the bathroom, and a raised firepit. Bathrooms are generally pretty clean, and there are also showers, an outdoor sink, and a bottle filling station. Firewood is $10 and can be purchased on the way in, ice, ice cream, and other conveniences can be found at the gas station across the street from the entrance.

Horrific. Won't be back. 2 reasons. 1) Campground has been decimated by IN Governor Braun selling off most of it's lands to suburban home developers, which literally ends at the steps of the campground. Construction noises constantly. Access to beach dunes is now cut off. No longer allowed to hike through to beach access, bc it's all neighborhoods now. Must get in car and drive to be allowed to use a tiny area of the beach where's there's parking. 90% of national lands are GONE. Almost all homes now. 2) Charlene is horrific, calls police on legit campers, after she harasses us, interrogates us, and seems like she has early onset of something neurological. I booked online via recreation.gov website, as per the usual, late at night 8pmish. I took one day....ONE DAY....off from the city and m

We have been driving or pulling some sort of camping set up for over 25 years. We've stayed in private, state and federal campgrounds all over the country and in most states.. Recently, we had the pleasure of staying at Dunewood Campground. This campground was peaceful and never felt crowded, even though a walk around showed it was nearly full. The bathrooms were clean, had hot water, and even a filtered water dispenser. The location is excellent. It's just a short drive to the national park, restaurants, a liquor store, and a gas station. Our campsite had plenty of space and offered good privacy—our neighbors weren’t right on top of us. While we occasionally heard a distant train horn, the sounds of nature usually masked it. One of the highlights of our stay was being visited by severa

No electric hook ups, so if your camper needs a hook up to run the AC, bring a generator(that you can only run till 10) or prepare to go without. Also the tracks are near by, you can hear the train horn, not the closest I have ever camp to railroad tracks, but for others it might be too hard to sleep. All the spots are very shaded. The shower house has private shower rooms with a lot of hot water, you might have to share a shower with a spider or Daddy Long Legs. Over all a good campground, if it had electric hookups I would even call it great.

We really enjoyed this campground! The sites are far away from each other which is so nice! The restrooms were clean and having showers is always a plus! The volunteer who checked us in was wonderful! The only downside was our site (32) became overrun with raccoons in the evening. I’d recommend making dinner in the daylight which was not what we did. Sadly it seems like they’ve been conditioned to be fed or steal food from this area. They were getting within feet of us with absolutely no fear even when we yelled. Always secure your food and trash at night!!!
