Portal Motel

I stayed here 1 night after completing my JMT thru-hike. If you're leaving Lone Pine via ESTA bus, the bus stop is a convenient few minutes away from this place. Room was very clean and well-maintained.

We were satisfied with our stay at the Portal Motel. It was easy to find, walkable to restaurants, clean, comfortable and safe. We wanted a nice place to sleep and we got it.

Positive: It?s older, like all the motels in Lone Pine, but the room was spacious and very clean. A great space to rest up before a long hike, and I booked another night to rest after the 2-day hike. Negative: Having to fill out the registration slip by hand.

The room was stinking so bad I barely managed to sleep. The sink was leaking water all over the floor and the towel had stains on them. Don’t recommend.

Spent four nights in Lone Pine at the Portal Motel. It is a nice, simple, and clean motel, with clean rooms and fittings. The staff is attentive and kind. It is better to call to reserve a room, as the price is cheaper. Booking sites charge the owner 15% to 20% on their inflated price, and the staff have no access to the booking. Lone Pine is tiny, nonetheless the motel is close to the center of town and several restaurants and coffee shops.
