Awesome campground with beautiful views of Mount Whitney, and surrounding hillsides. A small stream runs through the campground and create a relaxing environment and white noise for sleeping at night. The campground provides bear boxes, trash facilities, fire Rings and bathrooms. Not all sites have shade, but most of them have ample coverage. You’re a short drive from the town of lone Pine, which has restaurants and stores in case you forgot essentials. There are fish in the creek. I was told there are nice spots a short hike up stream. No camp fees after November 1. Short drive to Alabama Hills and Mount Whitney portal campground. Excellent place to bring a family.
This was our first time camping here. Our site was great - our friends' sites were great - the whole campground is awesome. The creek was the funnest part for all the kids. The campsite is large, bathrooms are quite clean (non-flushing toilets) - they were cleaned several times a day. The views (Whitney) are phenomenal. Very close to Whitney portal where we hiked around the waterfall and scrambled over rocks and boulders. One of the best weekends we've ever had as a family! Can't wait to go back - Alabama Hills has really fun rock climbing as well and is very close to campsite.
Great little RV and tent camping spot. They offer clean bathrooms, and coin operated showers. The spots are very close together though. Would be nice if spread out more.
Great spot at the base of Mt. Whitney. #4 is good if you have multiple tents. The views are spectacular. And it wasn't as windy as Tuttle Creek or Alabama Hills.
Site 38 is AWEFUL to pull in to with a longer rig… made it with my 30’, but I’d venture to guess many couldn’t manage much beyond a 25’ safely; had to mow through some bushes and really risked damage to get pulled in. Great creek onsite, very quiet, and the stars, oh my…. Super dark!
