Spent two night in November 2025 and enjoyed our visit. The weather was rough while we were there, so our outdoor activates were hampered by the weather, but the hotel was nice and I can see how it is a great location if you are exploring the eastern Sierra. The hotel is right on the main road and there are plenty of dining establishments a quick walk from the hotel. Parking is ample and the view, had it not been so cloudy and rainy, would have been great. I can imagine it would get busy during the peak tourist season, but town was quiet and not overrun during our trip. I would recommend staying here if you are looking for a basecamp for some Alabama Hills exploring.

Great hotel, friendly staff. nice rooms! Initially they placed me in the "old-historic" part of the hotel. Not for me.... dinky rooms, no counter space at sink (which is in main room), and tiny bathroom. You also can't control the temp as the heating system is original radiator. Sign says "if you get hot, open the window". Asked front desk to move me to an updated room in the newer part and they were happy to accommodate. Love this hotel and location to the Alabama Hills and Mt. Whitney. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We loved Lone Pine and were happy with our hotel choice too. We stayed in the motel side and the room was very comfortable and the motel is located very well for a visit to Lone Pine. We really enjoyed the town itself, and the surrounding Alabama Hills. We only stayed 1 night before driving through Death Valley NP but would have been happy to stay an extra night.

After finishing the JMT and exiting at Whitney Portal, we got a ride to Lone Pine for a stay overnight in order to catch a bus back to Mammoth. Dow Villa is a historic, iconic hotel — a favorite of old Hollywood film crews. Our room was comfortable and clean, which was especially appreciated after hiking for weeks. There are a few stores, bars and restaurants within walking distance, along with the Museum of Western Film History and a nearby bus stop for onward travel. ||Dow Villa was recommended to us by our shuttle driver, “Lone Pine Kurt,” who is a legend in the area. If you need shuttle service to or from trailheads, he’s incredibly kind and helpful. (He services Lone Pine, Horseshoe Meadow, Onion Valley, etc.) Limited availability for reservations — you can reach him at lonepinekurt@a

Positive: Along the travel route to Death Valley NationalPark, about 2 hours away. Price is right and room is clean and met the value expectations. Negative: No breakfast
