Ponderosa Campground

Great RV camping. Found Ponderosa just by accident cruising up and down Hyway 17. Daylight was burning, saw the little blue RV sign turned in. The host was great, friendly, down to earth, direct. Asked for a night, ended up spending 2. Shower / bathroom house was very nice clean, well kept, heated. Campground was well organized trash dumpsters, dump station. My site was a backup to the river Beautiful, nice place,listening to running water, and it was very quiet . This camp specializes in trout fishing catch and release, fly fishing only. The host has all the hand tied fly's you need at a great price. I will definetly try to make it back next year Oh yeah, met a few rv'rs extremely friendly.

We saw this place while driving up to Antonito and immediately thought that it would be a great place to stay. The campground is in a heavily wooded canyon right on the river with the choice sites backing right on the shoreline. A small campground, there are sites to accommodate all types of camping experiences. There are sites with full hook-ups, tenting sites and individual cabins with names from the TV show Bonanza. The owners live on site and are friendly and helpful. There are very clean restroom/showers, cleaned daily. The Ponderosa offers an opportunity for fishing and we saw many families enjoying that activity.There is also a playground area for the kids to enjoy. There are several rv spots right on the canejos river. Water and 30amp only there. Full hookups away from river. Peaceful place. Beautiful country.

We stayed for a week (5/24/25) and totally enjoyed our peaceful time at Poderosa Campground! We enjoyed watching the Canadian Geese along the river and the gorgeous scenery. Our sonand family met us there and we enjoyed some family time with them in the middle of our week stay. Kim and Frank, owners were very nice. We will be back for sure!

Great location, hosts are SUPER PEOPLE!! Very helpful. Many activities very close (hiking,boating,shooting,archery,fishing, photography, stargazing) nice and quiet and clean,clean,clean! I can't say enough good about Ponderosa.
