Mogote Campground

Well cared for! Camphost does a good job. Upper loop and lower are both different but beautiful. Pretty part of the state! A great place to stay.

Upper loop doesn't have many trees and is very open. It looks more desert like. The lower loop has all the great trees, many sites have amazing river access. Be prepared for a lot of mosquitoes. There seems to be a swampy area near sites 22 and 23 near the trash cans that produces these pesky biters. Sam, the camp host does an amazing job at keeping the sites clean and friendly. The bathrooms are very clean and well stocked. If you run out of supplies, there is a small and friendly mercantile about 5 minutes from the campground for you to stock up on what you need, including your fishing license(cash only). We did not see much wildlife other than chipmunks, occasionally we saw a deer on the other side of the river and a couple fisherman saw a bear come down to fish on one of the river

The campsite was very clean and the manager was so nice and helpful. It was a perfect spot to relax and sleep right near the river. Would definitely stay again!

We usually go backpacking but joined friends at Mogote. It’s definitely one of the nicest campgrounds we’ve been to. The bathrooms were really clean!! The host, Sam, was also really great. Makes me want to go “car camping” more often!

Great campsite with a varied layout for campsites, a few sites are pretty close together so be mindful on busy weekends/holidays. Great river sounds at all the lower sites. Host is super nice and knowledgeable on the area, would recommend it for it's proximity to so much southern Colorado has to offer.
