Parkview Motel

I stayed in this wonderful hotel for more than a month while working nearby. The staff is careful and attentive. The room was always kept clean by them. They always cared about their guests and their rooms. They were polite and prompt with any request. The location is the best and safest in Carlsbad. As an unarmed former New York City detective, that second item always concerned me in Carlsbad. I had no such worries in or near the hotel. I left only to help war refugees in Ukraine and am working there now, writing a screenplay about it. When I return to Carlsbad, I will definitely stay at the Parkview. You should too.

We prefer older and smaller motels when we travel. This motels definitely fit the bill. It is very dated but our room was very clean. Bathroom is very small but kept very clean. No pool, though. The owners are terrific and very helpful. I think the current owners had recently taken over managing the property. We had to stay an extra night in Carlsbad due to car trouble, and we picked this place over the big box chain motels because of our satisfaction with the place the night before. We would stay here again if we came back to town. I'm so sure there are many who pass this place up for classier digs at double the price, but we'd rather support places like this instead of McHotels.

Pretty sure I had the best sleep of my life during my 1 night here! I was on a long trip so was so grateful for it - best $ I have spent on a motel! Customer service was friendly on the phone (hard to find nowadays) and she held my room for me while I was driving in. It was super cold so the nighttime window was a bit difficult but our room was warm and cozy, the bed was great. Thank you.

The room is good given that the price is very affordable, but here are some suggestions: 1. Clean the room more thoroughly. The dead cockroach probably indicates that you’ve just recently sprayed pesticide, but it still grossed me out. Luckily I found it right before checkout, so I didn’t have to live with it. 2. Clean the freezer so people can actually use it. 3. Put a sign on the front door to indicate you have a side window for night checkin. I arrived around 9:15pm, the front door was locked without a doorbell, nobody answered the phone, and I was starting to panic before I found the very non-obvious side window. 4. If shampoo is not in the room by default, then you should expect people come to the front desk to ask for it. Maybe have some on hand and be more friendly instead of asking

BED BUGS! Hands down the worst "motel" I've ever stayed at. Saw a dead bed bug near my pillow and looked under the mattress to investigate and saw a few crawling around. I slept the remainder of the night in my car. However, this hotel goes the extra mile in just how bad it is. Upon check in I was being repeatedly pushed to stay in a smoking room despite not smoking and telling the clerk that. Water pressure is non existent. 24/7 loud barking dogs all around the block. The chair in the room was crisper than fried chicken. I could go on, but I think you get the idea.
