Pacific Grove Inn

Steer clear! This place looks appealing from the curb but it’s a whole different story on the inside. The vintage/victorian aspect should make this place stand out. However, what you’ll find is an immediate musty smell, utilities and appliances that do not work ( and even when you report these defects to management- you are ignored). The Wi-Fi does not work! The parking is extremely limited with tiny spaces. The wallpaper is coming off of the walls. There is no central air so the windows open, but this area is extremely humid! The fan provided works halfway. There is no refrigerator or microwave in the room. You can purchase breakfast for $35! This place is a JOKE! Steer clear!!!

I stayed in Tuttle house room 114. I liked my stay a lot, the location is amazing. I dont have a car and I was able to walk around with no issue, and it's right by public transportation too. The water is less than a 10 min walk, there is a charming convenience store 3 min walk away. Location could not have been better. I ate breakfast at bookworks which is only like a 6 min walk away, their pumpkin bread is amazing. My only complaint is that I had trouble with the wifi, so i kind of went without it my last day. Luckily i like to read. But other than that it was really nice, they also have a fire place, which I didnt expect honestly lol. I would recommend :)

Cheap and cozy place in Monterey. It was self checkin and the remote front desk was very patient and friendly. The room and the entire house are vintage in a good looking way, which is also very suitable to take pictures.

Charming Stay with Great Service The rooms were small, as you might expect for a building with this much history, but they were cozy and full of character. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and both the happy hour and breakfast were amazing. There’s no elevator, but the staff kindly carried our luggage to the third floor. Overall, it’s a quiet, lovely place with a cozy, good vibe.

What a great stay! We have already made reservations to come back for a future visit. The inn is a historic home originally built in 1904 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We were quite blown away by all the pluses of staying at The Charles …… the biggest plus is the extremely reasonable price of staying here. A charming house with clean rooms and comfortable beds - our room even had a fireplace. The Charles has done a wonderful job of giving the interior a cozy, homey feel reflected in that era furnishings. The Charles provides an elevated continental breakfast which is just amazing.
