Pa-Co-Chu-Puk Campground

We store our travel trailer and cargo trailer at the campground dry storage area here. This last year, they installed a code operated lock; replacing the combo lock. This has been a force multiplier to speed up the in and out process. The storage lot is not plowed; so be conscious of this if it has recently snowed a measurable amount. The charge for a spot at this lot is cheaper than commercial storage lots.

This was our favorite campground in Colorado! We stayed here for 3 nights at site #276HA in Pa Co Chu Puk campground. From our campsite we had full view of the Uncompahgre River plus the fishing ponds. It was wonderful hearing the river go past. The kids enjoyed riding their bikes around the campground in the evenings while my husband and I walked around. Lots of little walking paths around the fishing ponds, etc. for a relaxing evening stroll. Full hookups, beautiful showers, bathrooms, laundry facilities. We used this campground as home base while exploring Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP and Mesa Verde NP (a day trip). Would've loved to stay at this campground longer! Make your reservations early!!!

I give it four stars for location. The views in Autumn are spectacular! Nice facility's, level rv pads, firepits, grill available. Be aware of the loop closest to the highway. You will noticeably hear traffic from 5am well into the night.

We stayed here Monday night through Wednesday morning, and let me tell you I was so impressed with how clean and well maintained the facilities were even after a holiday weekend. We stayed in loop H, which is a hike in campsite across the river. It's not a long walk, but small trollies are provided to bring up your gear more easily. The river and pond are beautiful and there are walking trails all around of various lengths and difficulties. Dogs are allowed and bear boxes were provided. Every section of this campsite has a designated bath house with flush toilets and running water. There is also a larger bath house by loop G where you can shower for free! They also provide coin operated laundry for guests. Some of the group sites even have access to a massive kitchen area. We met the camp

If you are traveling with a dog or small children, don’t even think about stopping at this place. This campground is easily accessible, just adjacent to the highway. But that is the only thing good about this place. As you can see from the pictures, the goat heads (mini cactus) are everywhere, even right outside your camper door. Very dangerous.to pets and kids. The ones on the white plate I pulled out of my dogs feet. He is now so gun shy he won’t even go take a pee at this place. I guess I was expecting a lot more from a Colorado mountain campground. As you can see from the pictures, it is a desert. No green grass, lots of short cactus everywhere. A terrible place to walk a dog. There is no shade, And no green space anywhere. we have stayed in very nice campgrounds in Gunnison and Colo
