Owl motel

Fantastic for what it is, an old style motel built before the interstate came through. Given that it’s an old hotel, it’s clean, and at $64 you can’t beat that :-). And the casino next-door is a lot of fun. The restaurant food and drinks are similarly well priced.

Had never heard about Battle Mountain. We were invited to a party and drove 8 hours to get there. Most of the guests stayed at the Owl Motel, and it was better than I expected: free WiFi, free breakfast for one from 6am to 9am, clean room, clean bathroom, flatscreen tv with lots of channels, air conditioning, a mini fridge and a microwave. The only appliance they don't have and I needed was an iron and an ironing board. The servers and the lady at the front desk/cashier were very helpful. The restrooms on the casino floor were pristine (did not expect that either). I highly recommend the Gold Miners Eggs Benedict!!! They are to die for!

I drive through Battle Mountain regularly and had heard that The Owl Motel was a good value. I stopped in to ask about a room for the night and was told that they were full. I’m commenting because I couldn’t find much of anything written about the place. The motel is operated by the Owl Club Casino. I checked and spoke to a clerk at the cashier’s window at the rear of the casino. It looks okay for a budget motel but I only saw it from outside. My understanding was that most of the guests are there on extended stays while working in the area. You might call the casino at (775) 635-2444 for more information. That’s what I should have done if I didn’t dislike taking on the phone.

The only thing missing at this very cool time capsule of western Americana is an indoor route from the bar to the room when it's 10 outside.||It's definitely a motel, not a hotel - and a small one. But it's not skeezy at all: totally clean, just basic.||The Owl Club Casino, Nevada Hotel (no rooms for rent at this time) and Owl Motel all share the block in vintage style.||Capped off the visit with a yummy big breakfast.||If you are looking for a break off 80 in Northern Nevada done hesitate to take it at the Owl Club.

Battle Mountain does not inspire. Once known as the Armpit of America it is still in the doldrums. Mining gold and silver seems to be the only job in town but if you want a clean, comfortable bed for the night with a great shower and a proper cooked breakfast then this is where to break your journey on the interminable Interstate 80. The whole deal for two people (the price is per room with one enormous breakfast that will easily serve two) was just shy of $37. Beat that if you can!
