Northland Lodge, Orr MN

Lulu is the greatest host and excellent cook. Came to the resort for dinner after probably 8 different people around Orr MN suggested that we visit. What a gem! Food was great upper midwestern family style affair with 5 or 6 courses. Other guests were friendly and fun to meet and make new friends. Totally the feel of the 40’s - 50’s friendly atmosphere/ people. Staff was great also. Be sure to call for reservations ( only serves those who make reservations. Cash only no credit or debit cards.

My husband and I had the opportunity to dine at the Northland Lodge one evening in early September. Unfortunately we had to leave Orr, MN early so we missed out on two other dinners we were supposed to be able to do. Boo hoo for us! We stayed nearby and we were recommended to call Lulu and make reservations. What can I say...this is a very charming lodge and the food is plentiful and deliciously homemade! It is truly like dining at home. The night we dined, the entree was walleye. Lulu and her staff serves several courses and each and every dish was excellent. Orr is a remote northern Minnesota town, but the hospitality and graciousness of the area businesses serving the tourists and residents are first rate!

The lodge is on the historic register and is just beautiful. Family style meals are servered daily with a reservation. Meals are absolutely excellent and include relish trey, soup, beverage and desert. Everything is homemade and entrees include prime rib, baby back ribs, walleye. There is a bar with wonderful drinks and local atmosphere. There are 10 cabins, boats and motors, and all the nicest support facilities. You can' miss with a vacation stay or a wonderful meal here.

This is an original Northland family owned resort with a dining room and full service bar. It's just charming and showing a little bit of its age.

So, this place is not listed as a restaurant but I'm pretty sure it's the best one in the area. Not a traditional restaurant by any means (no menu), but honest and well cooked food by people who care. We heard about this place from a couple of friends/locals while on summer vacation. We were told to just call and make a reservation and show up at the time instructed (6:00) and we would dine on multiple courses of home cooked food. So that's exactly what we did. We made our reservation for Saturday night and were told two things... "be here by six... we're serving walleye". When we arrived we walked through the door marked Bar Entrance and were greeted by a gentleman at the bar who offered us cocktails.
