A very nice place to stay on JBAB if you are eligible The Navy Lodge is a really good value if you meet the eligibility and there is availability. This is official DoD lodging, so eligibility is limited to active-duty military (all branches), Reserves/Guard on orders, retirees, DoD civilians on official travel, and their accompanied family members/sponsored guests. Pure civilians without a military sponsor or base access generally can’t book or stay. Priority goes to PCS/TDY travelers, but leisure stays are allowed when rooms are available. We were in the area and visiting relatives in the area. It is at the south end of the base and so you have to drive through the residential areas to get to the building. The check in was easy and the staff was nice. The room was a main room with comfort
My husband and I have stayed here 3 times in the last 2 years. We are in town this time for a Commander's game. A few things about the Navy lodge. Does it need to be updated physically? Absolutely! Are the rooms clean and spacious? Definitely! Is it worth the cost and conveniently located to most DC and MD sites? Yes! And the best part about it...the staff is nice, helpful and friendly. We will continue to stay here whenever we are in town.
It's a Navy Lodge so you should know the baseline what to expect with that (dated, failing mechanical, somewhat dirty/dingey). The location on base is horrible, it's like a maze with speed bumps trying to get back here. There are no restaurants open at a decent hour nearby, and the biggest thing is it stinks pretty bad due to the sewer plant next door. Plus, weird policies like having limited breakfast Friday/Saturday/Sunday. Spend the extra $20 out of pocket to stay somewhere cool in town and you won't regret it in a second.
Disappointed and heartbroken with this NavyLodge. My husband and I booked a room in advance and were called the day of to confirm our stay for the night. We happily confirmed with the front desk letting them know we’d get there late that evening. Gentlemen on the phone was kind and let us know they were looking forward to seeing us. After a long day of walking and exploring D.C, we finally arrived and were told there was a “mix-up.” We had two options: Wait 2 hours for someone to clean the room we were supposed to stay in or find another hotel off the base. We ultimately chose to find another hotel. We would have greatly appreciated if staff would have let us know when they initially called to confirm our stay about the mix up to give us time and them time to plan accordingly. Poor communi
Very clean (coming from a previous hotel housekeeper) and friendly staff. Pet friendly too. Just show your proof of rabies vaccination. My only complaint was that the walls are paper thin and you can hear the neighbors very well when they are just talking.
